If your DC are the only grandchildren how much do their GP's spend at Christmas?

My mum goes totally overboard with DS.

My grandparents only ever spent about 10-15 pounds on us and it didn't do me any harm although I remember being Shock when school friend's would say their GPs had given them 100 pound+!!

As much as I appreciate my mum's generosity there is far too much stuff in our house already that he doesn't play with!!

It varies.

My parents are seperated. Dad gives them a fat cheque for their trust funds for Xmas but got them a stack of charity shop videos to share for their birthdays.

Mum tends to buy them biggish presents as and when they need them throughout the year, but nothing huge for Xmas.

The IL's spend less but we get lovely hand knitted jumpers and things like that. My kids aren't their only grandchildren though.

nappyaddict no they didnt and in truth I think the whole of our family have ignored inflation as the money has been the same as long as I can remember!!

My DD is the only GC on both sides, she will get a few gifts from my dad, and nothing from MIL who has home on her hols this year without a buy or leave, she did get her present from us before she went, some spending money, but nothing for her GC in return, would be a load of old tat anyhow if she did, no doubt. So no loss

I feel sad that my pil and own dps died when my dd was just a year old and so she has never experienced such generosity or love from any dgps. however she was remembered by them in their wills.
