How about one of the books from this series.

We have bought DS (4) a couple and they look great. Lots to look at and look for - like 'Where's Wally?' but better! The reviews on Amazon highly recommend too. HTH [festive smile]

These are slightly over budget but The Guinness Book or Records does games or tests that might be quite fun: egg challenge or paper plane challenge.
