Would you like theatre tokens for christmas ? Any drawbacks

We live close to central London. DSis & BIL have 11 month old and live out in the sticks up north. Would theatre tokens plus offer of babysitting (plus overnight) be a gift you would you like ?

If so how much is required and are there any drawbacks to them (limited availbility etc)

We have BIG family and so normal gifts a bit defunct really.

I asked for them for xmas but then mum had a look and weirdly my local theatres no longer take them. No idea why - worth checking that there would be somewhere they could use them locally. Other than that, great idea Smile

Yes good point. Was thinking they would stay with us and go to a London play/show but you're right if for whatever reason they prefer to do something locally will need to check.

I Would LOVE it

Great thanks Lonnie & HBB.

How much do you think would be reasonable amount ? Want them to be able to afford decent seats and not add to but don't want to be OTT.

Ticketmaster voucher might be better, more choice of events.

Yes, you can't use theatre tokens on line, you have to go to the box office which is not always convenient/possible. Second Ticketmaster voucher.

Prices depend on the show but for decent seats you are probably looking at £50 plus in the west end.

I would love a gift like that, even more so with an offer of babysitting and an overnight stay!

Amount of voucher needed really does depend on which show/theatre they would like to go to. At some shows, the cheap tickets are perfect and you can get a perfect view of the stage, at others, you really need to spend more to have a decent experience.

This site gives seating plans and reviews, so if you know what they might like to see, try looking here first.

Ticketmaster are the spawn of the devil, but they are more suitable for gifting vouchers than the actual theatre tokens.

Thanks for feedback on theatre vouchers - lucky escape. Ticketmaster it is!
