I just went out in the dark and snow and chopped down a tree

I must say I didn't realise how big it was (wide) but with a move of furniture and a bit of strong strimmer wire tethering it to the window hadnle its all good Grin

now the kids are having great fun decorating it

I have no idea what else to do christmassy though

PortlyBlackSantaUpTheChimney · 06/12/2010 19:37

muppets christmas carol was one :D

umm yeah we have some odd christmas movie channel on sky, which is showing very obscure movies I have never heard of!

I was going to choose a real tree yesterday to up the christmas feel, but the ones at the garden centre were all, well, wrong

Lopsided, really skinny up the top.. just not right :(

I've started playing a bit of Christmas music every day when the kids come in from school. Puts me in the mood.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 06/12/2010 19:41

name some xmas movies that would be good for my girls 10,5 and 3, preeeeeeeetty pleeeeeeeeease

lunavix · 06/12/2010 19:41

I was thinking of going to a carol service but the kids are at their dads on christmas eve (I think this is what isn't helping, as we normally bake christmas eve, have carol service, big chrissy dinner, then I do the whole 'reindeer droppings' stuff, put their stockings out.. big chrissy breakfast... and I know that isn't happening...)

We went and bought a christmas tree today and brought it home on DSs sledge (home made by DP). Then I spent all afternoon turning our flat into santa's grotto Grin

I've had walking in a winter wonderland stuck in my head since the first snowflake fell though...and started my christmas shopping in september (completely out of character- think I'm just really bored this year).

Mull some wine and bake some mince pies- the smell will get you in the mood. Then get your pritt stick and glitter out and make some cards/decorations.

I have a big box of xmas stuff for dc. We do something xmassy most days from it. I have printed colouring and activity sheets from the web. There are some christmas story books in it, old xmas cards, glitter and stuff. On sunday we made salt dough decorations, very easy to do.

Megancleo · 06/12/2010 20:07

When dc come home from school (and you from work) stick baked apples with cinnnemon in oven (smells divine) or orange slices to make decorations with, light candles, make cards or pressies or biscuits-just enjoy the festive season!

The kids will be doing loads at school or playgroup so don't fret

Cuddle up and watch ELF on Saturday...it's fab. Sunday 12th at 5.40.

MrsElf · 08/12/2010 13:51

Make gingerbread biscuits? Fantastic Christmassy smell, you can make festive shapes, and then overdecorate appropriately!
