This has been suggested to me...but if I was 11, I think I would be offended.

What do people think?

dd1 would like it. in fact i pondered getting her a similar one as i have a friend who makes them... i think i'm going to get her to make one in funkier fabric though.

i'm off gltc this year. have decided mine are now too big. Grin

Trinity - you're great! I am totally useless at technology.

Madwoman - your version would suit me! She is quite girly, but I am a bit worried her mum (control freak) is trying to stop her growing up, and feel I should be the "cutting edge" auntie. In the other hand, it would be easy to go for it...

hmm, well almost Blush

I think it looks a bit young and princessy for an 11 year old. She'd outgrow it very quickly.

Sazisi · 01/12/2010 18:01

And I completely missed Trinity's post too :o

fedupwithdeployment · 01/12/2010 18:10

That is almost an even split...I am going to have to go for it, even though I think it is far too young and princessy (would have thought it a better idea for a 4-7 year old).

Any other views?

What's the point of it? A packet of blu-tac would be more useful.

I tried to buy my dd(11.5) something like that last year for her birthday. She said she would rather have a white board she can write on and which also has magnets she could stick things on it. She uses the white board alot especially when friends are over they play schools and draw etc.It is handy for sticking things on too like school(letters etc) as reminders. I tend to forget. Hope this helps. I would like the gingham noticeboard myself as it looks lovely Smile.

mememe30 · 01/12/2010 22:08

Definately a magnetic white board thing. Ikea have silver ones.

musicposy · 01/12/2010 22:12

I think my 11 year old would just about be OK with it if someone else gave it (she's in bed so I can't ask!. However, I think it might be just a bit on the young side so I wouldn't personally get it for her. Plus, my 11 year old is quite young for her age - most of her friends are 9 or 10. I think my 14 year old would have turned her nose up at this at 11.

11 year olds vary hugely - maybe you are the best guess of how grown up she is. But I'd say maybe a bit young - better for a 7 or 8 year old.

ivykaty44 · 01/12/2010 22:16

no for mine- perhaps if it was there from younger it would be ok- but not to buy now. Thought the union jack board maybe ok as more grown up - I doubt wehther she would use it though, mine does use a white board thta is in her room for reminders etc- the board has been there on an easal since age 4 though so a bit different

LoopyLoops · 01/12/2010 22:18

Hmmm, any other thoughts for presents? Seems like an expensive bit of overly girly fabric to me, regardless of age. I'll make you one for a fiver and you can buy her a better present with the rest!

musicposy · 01/12/2010 22:23

I might go for something similar, but less princessy/ babyish - similar but more grown up

not so funky but sticky could be fun, could be a disaster!

this is what my 14 year old has been making noises about having, so she can pin things on one side and write on the other.

this would appeal to my 11 year old more than the pink one.

In retrospect I think I would find something a bit more suitable for the age.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 02/12/2010 08:37

my dd would need a BIGGER one and one you can also write on would probably suit her better. It is nice the one you found fedup though. I would go for a whiteboard and get some nice magnets, if she pretty things, maybe you could find a nice sparkly pen and/or magnets to use with it?

Might get my own dd something like that actually.
