I thought I wuld reply as nobody else had.
Your children are excited about Christmas and you are lucky to be able to share your excitment with them.
Decorations/trees always make the house look better and hide the mess.
Think about how excited they are and how magical it is to believe in everything and the magic might come back a bit.
Have you got any Christmas books you can all read together that will mak you christmassy?
I'm sorry yur year has been shit but you have got through it and it is nearly a whole fresh year. Tidy the most improtant rooms, your parents could have a "present in kind" and your children will love having you with them and a few personal presents.
I hope that helps

I've had a horrible shit year too (and also have no money) but I am quite looking forward to Christmas, maybe more than usual.

I think I got in in my head that it would be a fresh start, a way of forgetting all the crap and putting it all behind me. Plus I went on antidepressents Wink.

Children won't notice the mess much. They'll notice the decorations much more. Get them making some paper chains and try and put the shitty year behind you. Hope you start to feel better about it all.
