cheap adult camera or Vtec style child camera

hello

DS1 (nearly 7) is often taking photos with my iphone, we thought a camera might be a nice gift for him (he loves drawing, making etc)

has anyone had experience with childrens cameras, or a sturdy but cheap adult camera, with a child of this age?

thanks

Most important thing is how many photos it stores. Kids at that age take 2 zillion photos and you will be fed up with having to transfer them every 2 secs.

Also some of the cheaper cameras and a lot of the kids cameras do not have a removable memory card.

have read lots of poor reviews of the kids type cameras, saying that picture quality is very poor, so that type may be better for younger children.

My dd age 4 has the vtech kiddie zoom. She has take some good photos with it and even took photos at our friends wedding with it. All the adults wanted a turn too.It very sturdy and has been dropped by ds age 2 on many occasions. My sil is buying nephew one for christmas.

elc have their own camera reduced to £22.50 just now.
its made by v-tech,very similar to the kiddizoom, can expandable memory.
my ds is 6yo and loves my camera.i nearlybought the elc one,but have decided to go for 'proper' camera, one with a re-chargable battery.

At 6y def get an adult camera. they are some good deals on decent digital cameras at the moment.

My DDhas had a proper dgital camera from 4y and never had any problems using it. the picture qualty is so much better than on the children's cameras - which he will have gorwn out of very quickly anyway.

I'd go for an adult one, the picture quality of the V-tech one is pretty ropey

DD had the vtech one - it is dreadful.

DS is 4 and I am getting him a proper digital camera for christmas - they are pretty robust now and he is competent with my iphone Hmm

You can get some pretty reasonable ones but make sure you avoid the really cheap ones as they tend to run off AA batteries (rather than rechargeable lithium) they will run down really quickly (even if you do remind them to turn the camera off) and the money you will save will be eaten by new batteries by February.

4yo DS has got an old adult digital camera. He uses it for days out and special days at home and got some cool photo's out of it.

Obviously we get quite a few pics of his fingers too Hmm.
