recommend a radio controlled helicopter?

I'm looking one for ds who is 8. Its not his 'big' present so dont want to spend loads but dont want to buy one that falls apart. has anyone tried and tested one thats good?

Hmmm funnily enough I got one from Hamleys that cost a fortune (a "Gunship"). Within ten minutes of (dh) playing with it, it had hit the ceiling fan and broken. He fixed it but broke it again while flying it at night outside. He claimed he hit a bat.....

Make sure you don't let him fly it into anyone's hair; it's really tricky to pick it out of the rotors.

John Lewis has some fairly standard little models.

If you're in London, there's a nice model shop on Queenstown Road (near junction with Lavendar Hill: buses 77, 87, 345, 156, 137 & 452) which has all sorts.
