Portable DVD players for £50 from ToysRUs - bound to be rubbish?

No, but as long as they play regualar DVD's and you aren't expecting fantastic picture quality they should be OK. The less buttons and doodahs they have the better IME.
DD initially had a very cheap one (bought in Bangkok), it lasted until she stuck her finger over the laser . Now she is more responsible, she has a Sony.
Can you look at which recommendations?

Thanks for your answer. Have tried and failed to find online reviews for them! They sound great on paper, even include an in-car kit, so am very tempted.

try asda one. has great reviews. have bought for my dd for same price.
