Any ideas? I gave her a magazine subscription last year which went down well.....

I read this as 18 month old and was going to suggest Duplo.

What sort of price range? I really like getting nice bits of make up (like a Lancome mascara which I would feel guilty about buying myself when I could get one for £7...).

Bottle of something? If you can get to a Selfridges "Vom Fass" (in the food hall) sell flavoured alcohol (and oils and vinegars, but that's less fun for teenage girls) and shaped glass bottles. I think you can possibly get them online?

Is she going to university next year? My sister got me wine glasses and mugs the Christmas before I went to uni (but this might not be such a good idea if she doesn't have an offer already, or only has one she is nervous about meeting the requirements of)

If she is going to university / leaving home I would go to Argos and get a basic batterie de cuisine, ie cheap frying pans (large and small), non-stick pans (large and small, with lids if possible), some wooden spoons, a chopping board, some Pyrex dishes and some basic implements: slotted spoon, potato masher, pasta scoop, spatula, fish slice, etc. Knives are essential but will make this much more expensive, so maybe leave them out for now. I'd add in a cook book that covers all the basics.

Pluses: it is a big gift that will look v exciting under the tree, is genuinely useful, can be selected according to any budget (and added to later on), will last ages and will remind her of you as she uses it
Minus: nowhere near as glam as the make-up or alcohol options

I think you're right, Stewie. Maybe my suggestion would be better when she actually leaves home? Also, thinking about it, my stuff would be much more easily sourced from Ikea than Argos.

As she's your goddaughter what about a nice silver or gold cross necklace.
I gave my sister one for her 18th and it's the only gift she still has from then.

There's lots of other options on google, those were the first two that came up. Was much easier to get this stuff when I lived in Wales...
