Presents for girls 10-12?

Totally unoriginal Christmas thread..sorry.

I am struggling for ideas this year for my dd's. We've done all the usual things and they've just had birthdays too which doesn't help. Any suggestions? (They have camera, mp3 and ds).

Ds is always so easy I never run out of ideas for him. And yet when boys turn into men they become the ones that get hard to buy for and women are easier I always think.

So far my DD (age 11) has a pop up umbrella (so she doesn't get wet on the walk to the school bus) and some Lush vouchers. Her only other requests are guinea pigs and SKY in her bedroom. I will watch this thread with interest

Buying a Nintendo Wii as a joint pressie between DD and DS.

10 yr old DD also getting a funky ipod docking station, books, canterbury sportswear, bunty annual (Bless!), CD, and lots of smaller girly stocking stuff.

Had one idea which I hope dd1 will like. I've bought some nail art pens. Her and dd2 are always messing about with nail polish and you can paint little pictures on nails with pens. Possibly some fab boots which I've seen too. Also maybe a proper (not a toy) hula hoop. Dd LOVES hula hooping. We tried some proper ones in the summer and it was great fun.

Think it'll be more lots of little things rether than a big thing this year. We've exhausted most technological pressies for the time beiing I think. Don't want to overload them with it for the sake of it.

mini hair straighteners, her ears pierced and a Build a bear for dd 10 and a half.

Tickets for a show hidden in the bottom of a huge box of shredding.

Put in lots of clues for her to guess at until she finds the actual tickets hidden in an enveleope selotaped to the bottom.

We did this for my dd and she loved it.

DH has just ordered for DD - at her request after her first y7 electronics module - a soldering iron and a kit to build a radio.

I'm quite - my big bro had all that sort of stuff, I never thought to ask.

I am going to get her a sewing basket with her own embroidery scissors, needles etc - she's just got interested in tapestry (mini xmas kits from Hobbycraft).

Books (Horowitz, Morpurgo sets, Beano annual)

She/we are also getting a Wii.

Have bought my 10 year old SIL a paint by numbers kit. Her birthday is in Feb so we will be buying her some nice jewellry, maybe some enamel earrings as she's recently had them pierced.

Most people will be buying her clothes and make-up and various teenage things, which I am personally loathe to do. I'd much rather get her something crafty that she can get some enjoyment out of--she always expresses an interest in the stuff DH and I make and do. I'd buy her books, but she just doesnt read

dd is getting a mini sewing machine (the john lewis one, is v reasonable I thought) plus relatives will give her some bits and bobs to sew with

she'd also like the sylvanian mill (she still loves those sylvanians!)

ds has just recently had his birthday and one of his favourite pressies was some electrical kit where he could make circuits (though I think if you'd asked him, he'd say he likes his new games more!)
