Do you let Santa take all the credit?

Hi just wondered if Santa gets all the credit for the gifts in you house or if you split the presents half from mummy and daddy and half Santa or just one present from either.

Was thinking about it 2day, is doing a stocking which is going to be from Santa but what about the presents that will appear under the tree.

i've just posted about this and differences in traditions with in-laws.

we do main presents from us / gifts from family. stocking from santa. i my opinion, keeps it simple and easy to do!

Santa brings the stocking presents and some presents which he leaves in small sacks on the sofa. We give the kids presents that we put under the tree. We don't spend more money on one group of presents over the other.

Some from Father Christmas, some from us and some from family. It saves hiding away gifts that friends and family bring around. The stocking in DD's room also come from Father Christmas.

Father Christmas just brings the stocking which contains smallish gifts. Everything else is from family.
I feel quite strongly that gifts from family should be acknowledged as such so that they can be thanked properly.

It's the way we always did it as kids and it didn't spoil the Father Christmas myth at all.

Father Christmas only does the stocking - I also think children should know where their presents come from.

In our family the presents aspect of Xmas is much more about the choosing and giving than about the receiving - I think expecting FC to bring all the big presents would spoil that (IMO)

Santa does stockings, but relatively generous fun stockings, not just socks and hairbrushes. Human beings do the rest.

Santa brings the stocking and the gifts beneath the tree. However, only the stocking is from him. The rest are from us but made & delivered by Santa.

We're the same as wornoutbutstillwonderful, everything from us is from Father Christmas but everything from family is from family so everyone gets the appropriate appreciation and thank you's. We may start giving one small gift from us as DS gets bigger and wonders why we don't get him anything, but haven't needed to yet.

That said, Father Christmas is going to visit his auntie's house this year and leave a stocking there as well, but that was her idea completely as she liked the stocking she has got.

The 'main' (usually most expensive) gift is from us (under my parents tree - as we all meet there at 11am on Xmas day) ...every thing else is in the stocking from FC ... friends and family's gift are from themselves lol - I find it extremely strange why anyone would do otherwise with gifts from friends and family !

Same as wornout here too. I like to be able to spend December without being pestered for every toy they see. Santa chooses their things from what they've asked for, so all the pressure is on him

My cousin refuses to let Father Christmas get any credit, and tells her DS that she pays for the lot, with FC just delivering. She says she has to work hard to get the presents, so why shouldn't she get the thanks yous. I'd agree, if it wasn't for the fact benefit money was paying for the lot....

FC will get the credit for anything I buy this year, minus one or two, any family or friend presents that come in will be credited to the person.
