Where can I get decorations other than tree ones?

Because DS is a destructive force and pulls all the decorations off the tree every year we are just getting a fibre optic one and doing nothing more that putting a star on top this year. Along with a wreath on the it will be a pretty poor show so I want to do some other decs that will be fairly cheap but liven the place up a bit! We need things to go around the window and to go on the ceiling so he can't get to them! Any ideas/links appreciated!

Tinsel would be ok for that, and is widely available. Or maybe some fresh holly etc that you can put on top of pictures/stick over door lintels.

I have hung baubles on narrow ribbon from a picture frame, you could do the same in front of a mirror if you have one in the lounge. You can also do this in front of a tall window.

There are 'gel' things that stick to windows, and thin plastic 'snowflakes' that you just press on, no adhesive as they stick by capillary action. There are press-on suction hooks that you can use on windows too.

We used to make paper chains from strips of cut up wrapping paper, and stick the links together with sticky tape, then hang from the ceiling with blutack.

YOu could buy oversized baubles and tie ribbon to them and suspend from the celing?

No, haven't tried the gel window things, but have tried the thin plastic snowflake type, which are good.

The suction cups work well, even on a steamy kitchen window. I hang furry snowflake type things up as well as a lit giant snowflake at my kitchen window, as it is at the front of the house and the local primary school children pass each morning and afternoon.

If you like the retro look, consider crepe paper garlands that you twist and suspend from one corner of the ceiling to the diagonal corner, repeating with the other two corners so that they cross. Put balloons in the corners/mid way. I found these on ebay last year and they looked really fun. Out of reach.

Look stunning in groups, I hang ours from the ceiling using white tack.
