That's it really. For the last few years (after being inspired by a thread on here) we have made a christmas activity calendar for our dc's to open each day.
The activities I usually do (in no particular order) are

  1. Watch a christmassy dvd
  2. Listen to christmassy music
  3. make hot chocolate with marshmallows
  4. Read a christmassy story 5)Go for a torchlit walk looking at the christmas lights
  5. Make paper snowflakes
  6. decorate the tree 8)see santa/ write a letter to santa
  7. Make mince pies

But have run out of ideas and dc's screwed up all the bits of paper out of the calendar last year.

Any nice ideas that I can add?
TIA

I'm going to do a mix of activities and treats this year - some lovely ideas here Smile

How about:

  • make Christmas wreath/spray twigs/firecones gold
  • feed booze to Christmas cake
  • make reindeer food
  • choose & buy your own special tree decoration
  • conduct quality control test on Christmas tree chocolates Grin

  • find x toys you don't play with any more and pass onto a charity to make room for new toys

(I'm beginning to wonder if I could fool mine into thinking cleaning the bath was festive....)

Ha ha Iamcounting... I think that's pushing it too far...
However hoovering up the pine needles from under the christmas tree I reckon i could get away with...

Ooh just had a thought.

Tesco have a "make your own crackers" set.

That could work quite well!

Ok - this is what we are doing -

  • Learn Christmas song
  • Draw / colour a christmas picture (i bought a christmas coloouring book)
  • Write letters to sante
  • read christmas stry
  • watch christmas film
  • decorate snowflakes (pre bought)
  • write christmas cards
  • make paper chain decorations - decorate tree
  • make ikea gingerbread houses
  • make presents for teachers (this years its candles!) Make mince pies
  • out round town to look at lights

Have quite a few days of colouring, with school etc sometimes they just want to draw, not necessarily a big project!!

Also in the week leadin gup to chritmas, they can look at norad santa website, put plate out for him, go to carol concert etc

AttillaTheHan · 19/11/2010 20:06

Ah Carol concert - I forgot that!
Some great ideas here, thanks.
