My mum has got in to mosaicing (sp?) in a big way and she's building up a collection of unusual mosaic tiles and bits of china etc which she currently keeps in an old ice cream tub. I'd like to buy her a nice box to keep all those bits in, perferably with different compartments inside so she can sort them in to colours etc.

this?

or this

depending on size and budget

thanks for those, I think the small one might be a bit too small and the big one a bit too big. I was hoping to find something a little bit more decorative. Sorry if that sounds a bit poncetastic!

What about buying a few sets of wooden drawers either from Ikea or from those places that do wooden blanks. You could then decorate them??

This sort of thing

Only problem is she can't see into them without opening them.

oooh I like those Norbert.... I don't think she'd mind if you couldn't see in to them, I could always get the one with lots of little drawers lower down and paint them in different colours and she could colour code her mosaics to each drawer.... thanks for that!

Wooden Ikea type ones might be nice as she can then decorate with mosaic...

ChippyMinton · 18/11/2010 19:31

Not that it's any help, but the mosaic person on Kirsty's Homemade Home appeared to keep her stash in clear plastic takeaway containers.

I've had a look on the ikea website, I might be being dim but I can't seem to see any, which is wierd because I'm sure I've seen them in the shops... nice idea about decorating it with mosaics gilly :)

I couldn't find them on the Ikea site either but they do do them don't they? I'm sure we both can't be imagining it!

I don't think we're going mad, or perhaps our brains were addled from hours of wandering lost inside a cavernous Ikea and we were hallucinating!

Ikea discontinued the nice wooden box drawers. I was so Sad when I found out.

this is nice.

I love storing bits in canning jars, like these. They look so nice on a shelf
