xmas trees and secorations in childrens bedrooms

im considering buying a smallish 12.99 xmas tree to put in my childrens bedroom, they are 4.5 yr almost 2yrs.

Do you decorate your childrens rooms?

I was thinking of putting tinstle and beads draped around the bottom of the bed and hanging a straw heart or soemthing with lights in the window.

Also might put up a small tree with lights and decorationwhat do you think?

What do you do?

I tend to limit decorations to the sitting room only, with cards in the hallway. Otherwise it can look a bit like a grotto.(which is fine if that is what you like )

Only decrated the childrens roms when they were old enought to do it themselves. They used to make paper chains at first then they saved up to buy thier own Christmas tre.

MY DP is a tinsel freak and usually puts it in the kids bedrooms too, but I draw the line with our youngest (3) as I don't allow anything in her room which could be a ligature - I know that sounds a bit dramatic (and unlikely) - but I wouldn't leave anything lying around she could put round her neck.
I think your kids would love some decorations, but I'd probably go for the window ones but not lights or beads myself.

Mine have a tiny tree - about 10 inches high with fixed tiny baubles - on their window ledge. Then they have a string of fairy lights (plain white or coloured but essentially just the simply thin bulbs) around the outside of their bedroom door (taped to the door frame with masking tape and plugged in about four inches away). We have two upstairs doorways rigged with fairy lights, which makes for a really pretty landing light for the season.

No - never had decorations in our bedrooms until old enough to get our own and then only had a 6" high gold tinsel tree.

I won't be decorating DS's room (he's nearly 3)

I haven't even been brave enough to do the big tree in the living room since I've had dc's (4yo and 2yo). They will destroy it within seconds like everything else .

I put a bit of tinsel round the bottom of his bed. Don't do tinsel on the tree so it's the only bit of tat glitz he gets.

The children can do what they like decoration wise in their rooms. I used to just let them have the leftovers from the lounge decs. Who is looking in there anyway, and they enjoy it.

I do NOT do the snow in the window stuff though.

I got my DD a foot-high pink xmas tree from the pound shop last year for her room.

Our DC all have (little) trees in their rooms which they decorate themselves, and they make their own paper chains - keeps them quiet for hours!

I always end up going slightly nuts with the decorations TBH - last year I even decorated the downstairs loo as it seemed bare compared to the rest of the house . We have fairy lights in every room (downstairs) too, so at night we just have those on instead of the usual light bulbs and it looks lovely (and yes it's probably very tacky too but I don't care!)

Mine are getting a tiny little pound shop tree (on a high shelf) and some reindeer window stickers.

No tinsel or lights yet, because I worry about DS putting them round his neck.

mine have little bits and bobs, like paper chains they make, and i pin all the old baubles to their ceilings.

we COVER their windows with cut out snowflakes

red and green crepe paper chains across the ceiling

lots of lights and fake foliage twisted round the banister outside their room.

we have a sturdy branch over the victorian fireplace in their room which acts like a scene of the seasons, so in winter it has their own decorations on it, like pinecones dipped in glitter......that sounds a bit arsey but is actually cute. in autumn it has nice leaves we have found pegged to it etc

so yes we do decorate the childrens rooms

DS had a fibre optic tree bought him by a friend that he loves. He had an angel he made on top but think last year he had a resin Mickey. Its not meant to have decs on it but I have a few perspex Mickey/Minnie ones he now has, its also got soem Mickey Tinsel

His first three Christmas's I bought him a Winnie/Tigger/Eeyore Christmas soft toy, last year he chose his own snowglobe and they go on his radiator shelf. He also has a Winnie and friends on a sliegh soft toy that plays an almost acceptable Jingle bells that he has on his shelf. Also a lit up Santa onhis window

He loves his decs, takes care of them and gets very excited. He has already asked whrn he can have them out

I use to think it was dh who liked our house to look ike a forest at xmas but realise after we moved, got rid of all tatty trees from older dcs rooms, that it is really me, as I went out and promptly bought new ones for each bedroom of the new house . I only have a couple dcs still living at home (primary age) and they both have a tree in their room and a small budget each year to add to their decoration collection, and an art box in waiting for creating stuff, which is far more fun. Does mean every new, er angel(?) has it's own pride of place for it's first year - but I do miss when dcs were all small (before individual trees)and there was a gaggle (?) of home made angels tied to the top of the big tree looking as if they had had a really good night out already.

I hadn't actually thought about it, but may put some small decorations in there if requested!

DH's grandad gave DD a small fibre optic tree last year. She's 8y. She loved it, spent ages adding some baubles and then enjoyed having the lights on when she was in her playroom. e also give her a couple of strings of tinsel. Must remember to get it down fromt he loft next month.

My dd has a pink (very authentic, natch) Christmas tree in her bedroom which we bought on Monday and she insisted went up immediately. Hang on, I'll put a pic of it on my profile....

I intend to get a little tree from tescos for 90p and a few tacky baubles to go on it to go in DDs room (2.3)

We also make make paper chains to hang too.

Im not so worried about my son its just my
daughter is nearly 2 and I worry shel either destroy the tree every time she goes in there or the risk of her hurting herself with lights or soemthing.

Im definatly planning to put snowflakes on the window and i have a little ornament to hang in the window. probebly some beads and tinstle at the end of the bed too

Ds is 11mo, he pulled it over a few times at first but he's totally lost interest now. The lights are battery operated and came with the tree.
