Apologies if this pops up elsewhere, computer playing up.

DD nearly 6 has some lovely toys however she gets nothing all year except at Xmas and bday which is at Xmas so it's important to get it right iykwim.

DD has asked for some Moxie girl snow thing which having looked into is just 2 plastic walls and a chimney you shove fake snow into. Doesn't even include a doll so for a doll and said cabin-£50. I know it's shoddy quality and dd wouldn't play with it for long especially with it being winter themed.

She has a lovely Gotz doll and a few SF which she plays with in bursts all year round. She's mentioned she'd like some bunk beds for said doll or a friend which I'd be more than happy to buy as she'd get lots of play out of them. She mentioned SF in passing too which again I'd be happy with due to the oodles of play value.

The Moxie shite is top of her letter to FC though so feeling bad, very bad.

What do I do???? Dp useless.£50 is a lot of money and I don't want to waste it.

Would it be very bad not to get the MG?She's having a ds she's dying for pooled money from everybody so she'll be a very lucky girl either way.

Oh dear, Mila, it was so long ago I can't remember! It was quite cheap though, and the icicles were tiny.

Have just been up in the loft, and found the remainder; they were labelled Homebase, £2.99 for 2.4m or something. In a clear cylinder packet. I don't know if they have them this year though, because I haven't looked.

Just apologise to DD saying you were a bit rushed this morning/having a bad day/too many jobs to think of at the moment. I reckon she'll decide not to mention it again, then you can surprise her with the craft project near Christmas. What about adding in a tiny Christmas tree approx. 30cm high, I think Hobbycraft have them.

I'll shut up now before it gets more expensive than the original article!

Girly thankyou so much, that was so kind of you!!!!!! The loft Shock,I generally have to be dragged up there kicking and screaming so I'm deeply touched!!!!!Grin

I hadn't thought of Homebase they have masses of lights.

A mini tree would be fab, loads of play value, she could make tiny decs, scatter said snow over it......

Do you need any ideas for your dc,feel I ought to reciprocate? Smile

I'm afraid my DS is well past this and is an adult! We did used to do potato print cards for grandparents, with loads of sequins and glitter though, back in the day!

I like thinking up ideas for decorating, and I suppose this could be an extension of that, decorating a dolls winter cabin!

Having said all that I have no idea what the dolls are like, or what price they are, I can only remember Sindy and Barbie from my childhood! I'd better look on the net.

If you can't get battery mini led lights from Homebase, Wilkinson do some. I use battery lights in floral table arrangements because they are safer around water! And the cat won't set things on fire, I don't trust her around candles.

GruffalosGirl · 15/11/2010 15:16

I got those led battery lights in homebase last week for £2.99 and ELC are doing big tubs of snow glitter stuff for £1.50.

I'd definitely make your own, but do it before Christmas so she's not disappointed on the day as already has it.

PlumBumMum · 15/11/2010 17:55

Is this it, Its reduced to £24.99

gillybean2 · 16/11/2010 14:23

If she likes craft things then look at yellowmoon. They have snow and glitter and stuff she could make her own or use one of thier kits

Many thanks for those links, really useful.

Had a major break through. Showed dd the Tesco link of said cabin out of it's box in the end and pointed out how expensive it was.She was v disappointed with the picture and said it looks all lonely and lacking a doll( her words for over priced rip off shite imvho). That was it,has her heart now set on the SF Persian cat family Hmm,a SF toilet Hmm Hmm and a packet of snow-I know but think of the play value Grin.

I'm really chuffed as she honestly came to her own decision so I won't feel crap or ripped off-result!!!!!! Grin I know she'll dip in and out with them for ages.Kellen? Jaxon(with an X) and friends honestly wouldn't have been looked at past boxing day if her only Barbie is anything to go buy. What she has her heart set on now is at lot less than £50 so how pleased am I !!!!!! We can stretch to the wooden bunk beds.

So many thanks all for your patience and encouragement. If anybody else has the same dilemma show them a link with said toy out of it's packaging. I was quite surprised at how dd could see past the glossy packaging and advertising with very little prompting.

The SF family might like a home-made cabin!

MilaMae · 16/11/2010 16:58

Oh they'll be getting one-complete with icicles,Xmas tree and snow.We might just scatter some over the SF toilet Grin.
