he has lots of toys really many of which are his sisters, for example he loves her pink dolls house.

I was thinking of not actually getting very much at all for him Blush, he won't really know and there will be lots to play with anyway.

Is there anything he might really enjoy/big present idea? He has a rocking caterpilar, a push along, cuddlies, blocks, noisy things, books etc etc.

(we want to get him a toy garage, but want an original fisher price one, which is more expensive right now due to being nearer xmas, so was thinking we might get his presents in the jan sales/on ebay when people sell off old stuff!)

We have 2DDs and A 17 mnth old DS. He loves the happyland farm which we've had since DD1 was a year old.

Wow toys do really nice vehicles - the bin lorry is great fun!

We have the same problem with what to get for DS as we have so much already. We are thinking of some duplo because we don't have any of that and he seems to like playing with it elsewhere.

kateecass · 09/11/2010 13:22

When my DS was 1 he discovered cars and that's all he played with for the next 2 years.

Sadly they and that Fisher Price garage you are talking about are hardly ever played with these days as he is obsessed with guns (isn't allowed them) and Ben 10.

Actually thinking about DS has always played with his wooden train track which gets added to each year. Most of DS's friend have one too and are still played with too.

Off to see how much that garage is selling on ebay, if only I knew how to do it!

dinkystinky · 09/11/2010 13:25

Anything his 4 year old brother wants to play with...

Could you maybe get him a playdoh type set - DS1 got a fab Night garden one and an octopus one aged around 1 which both him and DS2 still love playing with...

Hawkmoth · 09/11/2010 13:26

In the sainsbury's scrum sale he chose himself a huge Peppa Pig. And he's getting a car transporter thing as well.

But Peppa pig is what he really likes. We had a terrible scene in Boots with the dune buggy.

VJay · 09/11/2010 13:29

Ds2 has just had his first birthday so has lots of toys. I did think about getting him something for the garden so will put it away until the summer.

PavlovtheCat · 09/11/2010 16:28

kate - if it the old fisher price garage, the one without the tracks running through the ramps, I will buy it from you if you want a quick and easy sale...as long as the wind up lift worls!

oh yes cars. He is very into cars. what is that all about?!!! I might just buy him a bucket load of cars.

In that sainsbos sale i bought lots Blush including this cool nemo bath toy, fab! I want him to have it now! But it is his birthday in 3 weeks and need to keep some stuff for then! guess that is my dilemma as it is almost his birthday, then christmas. He is getting something special and keepsakey for his birthday, like an oil filled locomotive, not really for now, for when he is older!

dinky he is the same with DDs toys, he wants every thing she wants, plus cars. which is why i am thinking not to bother buying much for him yet.

Now if you could help out on what to get a 1 yr old girl thread that'd be fab!!

PavlovtheCat · 09/11/2010 18:58

oh i just bought that rocket shape sorter for him actually, that is his birthday present (one of), half price in sainsbos!!

He has the train track, bought for DD but never that interested.

I will look at the ELC wooden garage, but tbh I am not really happy with ELC/Mothercare, but will look and see how persuaded I am!

At a year old my son played with this relentlessly! It still gets played with now he's four and by his one year old sister. Brilliant present.

FreudianSlimmery · 09/11/2010 19:12

My 14mo's favourite toy is his willy. Hmm

anonymousbird · 09/11/2010 19:14

Duplo, then duplo, oh and a bit of duplo!! He has just turned 6 and he STILL plays with duplo, seriously good value having lasted 5 years so far and going strong.....

Graduated onto Wooden bricks between 1 and 2 and not long after that into Brio train sets....

PavlovtheCat · 09/11/2010 19:20

oh i am sure we have a click clack track...i shall go and look..

kateecass · 09/11/2010 20:30

I will investigate the garage further tomorrow. It's in DS's room at the mo.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 09/11/2010 20:38

My DS is 2.4 and over the last year he's loved playing with his garage, wooden train set, orchard toy puzzles, wooden trike (elc) and happyland sets. He loves pop up tunnels too although he doesn't have one at home.

At this age DS' favourite toys were:

wooden walker with blocks
wooden pound a ball

nappyaddict · 26/11/2010 14:55

Also

big wooden noah's ark shape sorter
ELC Happyland and Fisher Price Little People

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 14:59

The ELC Manic Martians game is my 13mo's favourite thing in the whole wide world.
He loves watching it when it's switched on, he likes waving the hammers around, and he usually has a Martian in each hand.

nappyaddict · 26/11/2010 15:04

ELC soft stuff train thing, Brio track, wooden dolls house, garage, kitchen and farm also fab but he was more 18 months - 2 when we graduated onto those. Depends how advanced your 1 year old is I guess. DS was a bit behind and didn't walk til he was nearly 21 months.

He is 4 now and he is getting a wooden london red double decker bus and black taxi from Hamley's along with a London playset. We are hoping to take him to London before Christmas so he can ride on real ones.

nappyaddict · 26/11/2010 15:05

seth Does it use batteries?

sethstarkaddersmum · 26/11/2010 15:07

yes, the martians pop up and down out of their holes.

Rhian82 · 26/11/2010 15:34

Anything do with stickers, and cars!
