Good idea for Christmas eve/morning

After you've packed the kids off to bed on Christmas eve, shut the door and get a roll of wrapping paper and attach it to the door frame so the kids are wrapped in the room and they have to burst through the paper in the morning to get downstairs and open their presents (or to the stocking outside their bedroom door which they take to mum and dad's room which is what my friend does)

I like that but I think DS (4) would get scared if it was on his room door but might put it on the living room door so we can all burst in together.

nappyaddict · 03/11/2010 16:06

That's perhaps a better idea.

my kids sleep with their doors open. and the front room door opens inwards so we would bust the paper and still have to open the door.

You don't have to shut the door. Can you just paper the hole.

possibly

Ooh I love that idea I'll nick it for our lounge door!

thanks

mogs0 · 03/11/2010 17:37

I like the idea too! I don't think it'd work for us though as ds gets up at least once in the night to go for a wee!!

Constance39 · 03/11/2010 17:40

I think it would scare me to be wrapped in a room!

Gorran · 03/11/2010 18:08

I might do that to the sitting room door, we have stockings in our bedroom before coming downstairs.

Cherry I did just actually LOL @ the image of you bursting through wrapping paper and then having to still open the door - like something out of a sketch show!

wideratthehips · 03/11/2010 21:34

ooh thats too cute....i think we could do that on our sitting room room, but we are always so disorganised we go to bed late on christmas eve and may forget, but love the idea...good way of keeping them from sneaking down too early!

neverenoughMEtime · 04/11/2010 09:56

I too laughed at the image of bursting excitedly through the wrapping paper and then having to open the door..Grin

Great idea my DD would LOVE that!! Im going to do it if i remember! :)

Rocketbird · 04/11/2010 09:57

I love the idea of wrapping up the living room.

Jammyrella · 04/11/2010 10:24

Um, not wanting to be all doom and melodrama, but could "wrapping" them in the bedroom be a risk if there was an emergency? I know it's only paper so should be easy to rip through, but in a panic seems don't always seem so easy iykwim? Living room would be a much better idea. (Just don't wrap any pets in overnight :))
