dear all, i have done a lot of internet research on all the above and come away clueless!

we will get ds who will be 6.5 a ds for christmas but i don't understand really the difference between them and in reviews people are polarised, either love them or hate them. so for me and anyone else thinking of giving one as a gift could you post which version is the best and possibly any game recommendations. it will probably be a 'family' one though as we tend to share everything.

Bucharest - I just went onto Sainsbo's and they had the white ones? Can you get a UK friend to collect from store for you, then there's no delivery charge?

Tell me more about Very etc. I am a bit wibbly about Littlewoods as its all on credit isn't it? That sort of thing scares me. Blush

Dunnit! Grin They only had black this morning, but have obviously been inundated with white requests. Getting it delivered to my Mum's free of charge because over £30.

Now, Very etc, you do have to open a credit account, but you don't have to use that to pay IYSWIM? They will bombard you with offers, and you get thousands of pounds of available credit thrust at you, but I've never used any of it. All their accounts are credit accounts so, it's just the name really. The offers are well worth it though- got dp's MP3 player for £30 last year, instead of £60. In fact, am going to make a cuppa and go and close my existing accounts so I can buy some dsi games on an offer attached to a new account.

God, I sound like Nick Leeson with my wheeling and dealing. (or Del Boy)

From the bit of research I've done, it appears that the only difference between DSi and DSi XL is the slightly larger screen, and it's a bit heavier. The controls, their spacing and number of screen pixels all remain the same size. You don't get a clearer image, just a bit bigger. In fact some reviews say it's actually a bit blurrier on the XL, because keeping the same number of pixels means they have to be lightly larger. It still plays exactly the same games.

Seems if you know you'd like a larger screen then go for the XL, but people who already like the DSi may not think it any better.

Have a look at Amazon.co.uk-they are going to be having a 'Black Friday' event running from next monday to Friday, the home page explains all about it, but basically they will be doing massive discounts on lots of stuff including Wii consoles, so DSi and DSi LX may well be included-I'm thinking of getting one if they are.

Also sainsburys are selling them at 25% off till Dec 1st or 2nd I think.

Can I ask, are the games that just say DS on them compatable with all these thingies?
