i do a full roast each year but vary the meat. last year it was goose, the year before turkey and lamb. am now on the lookout for inspiration for this year. i think the meat will be duck and possibly beef, but need ideas what else to do, sauces etc please. x

Turkey - every year :)

We always go to my Mum and Dad's, and my Mum and I cook a traditional Christmas dinner. Everything homemade, all the stuffing, bacon-wrapped sausages etc. We all love sprouts, I didn't realise that they were so badly thought of until I was about 20! Yum, I can taste it already and it's making me hungry!

Teatime is cheese and biscuits, cold honey-roast gammon, chutneys and pickles, mince pies, Christmas cake. Mmmmmm.

Cherry, I have in the past made a sauce from cranberry jelly heated with red wine and thickened with cornflour, in which I re-heated slices or chunks of leftover turkey.

Make a small amount of the cherry sauce and see if it is to your liking, if not you'll have plenty of time to find something else.

girlywhirly- i can guarantee that i will like it as i love cherries and red wine, not so sure about db or the kids though.

RIght so Ok what we are actually eating- this is a big year as we have things to celebrate but will be away so limited cooker facillities; ds1 chose most of it as he has eating disorders and is incredibly picky.

Breakfast- croissants.

Aboiut ,idday- sorbet shots (elderflower for booys)

Main- pork with trimmings and loads of sprouts- family adore them; my dad would happily eat only sprouts and my boys follow suit.

Dessert - hazelnut and pear shortbread thing.

Tea- random pickles with ham.

Chocolates allow4ed after lunch.
