Buy some bottles of wine for their screw capped-ness rather than the quality of their wine. If it IS good wine, that's a win win!!!!

what is sloe gin? I may want to make it too

ComeWhineWithMe · 25/10/2010 15:34

here is great. The bottles are perfect and very good value. I got some last year for chiristmas presents and most of them have already been used several times over.

overmydeadbody · 25/10/2010 15:40

overmydeadbody · 25/10/2010 15:41

Sloes are tiny, they would happily fit in a wine bottle. I've got a load of small bottles going in the little cordial bottles from the jam jar shop for presents and then I just shoved a load of sloes into the gin bottle for the rest! You could just remove the need for bottles by drinking half the gin......

childrenofthecornsilk · 25/10/2010 15:49

Indith that's a brilliant idea. Drink the gin it is then.

ComeWhineWithMe · 25/10/2010 15:50

I don't like gin or vodka ...dp is going to have to be chief tester Hmm.

It completely changes the taste though. SLoe gin is beautiful. I've made some elderberry vodka this year and it is so smooth.

Now this would tempt me www.wikihow.com/Make-Christmas-Pudding-Flavoured-Vodka.

I make chutney so deliberately choose pretty, slender necked bottles of vinegar (Tesco's own I think). I use the vinegar for chutney and keep the empty bottles for sloe gin. Our local hardware shop also sells those swing top bottles which are nice.
