today I popped into ELC and bought a playmobil takealong police station. its my nephew's christmas present. that now means that the only present Ive yet to get is ds's wii (pre-owned, natch) and dh's wallet.

on a separate note, the police station was only £20. bargain!!

I am making quick headway through my list too. Takes the pressure off and means I have the money to buy food treats too.

lissieloucifer · 19/10/2010 14:12

exactly, I have been getting bits every week and lots of 3 for 2's etc... now for food/wine shoping

I have just bought one present.

I am normally mostly done and dusted by now but I can't seem to get going this year.

readinginsteadnowisundeadnow · 19/10/2010 14:41

I've finished all my present shopping . Only because if I dont get it all in the sales I cant afford it!

I've bought most of the DC's presents, they are stashed in the attic and now I don't have to think about it.

I hate last minute panic, crowded shopping centres and online orders that go out of stock.

neverenoughMEtime · 19/10/2010 15:09

I get to relax and get the house clean and do christmassy crafts with DC most afternoons and browse the shops without a list as long as my arm to buy....i cannot be doing with the crowds at the shops the closer it gets to december...you'll all be moaning on dec 20th that you still need to get XYZ Grin I shall be sitting here all smug Grin

Only kidding, i know it's early but still :)

phipps · 19/10/2010 16:18

What so you mean what will we do? There is still normal life to be getting on with and I will be buying gift wrap and ordering food for Christmas.

I save money every week which I don't miss but when it comes to buying presents I just transfer the money across to cover it so I am not using any money that I need that month.

1234ThumbScrew · 19/10/2010 17:13

Wow - that's impressive. I thought I was good doing my book people order.

readinginsteadnowisundeadnow · 19/10/2010 17:28

For me its not to do with being organised, its the cost. Even if i put aside money during the year, there'd be no guarantee of a sale on. For example, Tescos has half price toys, but nothing I want. I get alot in the Boots 75% off in January.

pigleychez · 19/10/2010 17:35

Ive got the DD's and the neices all done. Just the adult family members left.

I refuse to be dragging a 2yr old and 5mth old round the shops when it will be super busy. Its just far to stressful!
I can then spend nov/dec cooking yummy christmas treats and doing christmas art activities with the girls.

DH jokes about me being organised but then is smug when he doesnt have to get dragged round the shops at the weekends!

The3Bears · 19/10/2010 17:46

I have nearly everything too Grin

Just my sisters and mil to get now Grin

I love being so organized gives me time to actually enjoy xmas :)

Eddas · 19/10/2010 17:51

I've bought a fair few things for my dc, things i've picked up at car boots over the summer and from ebay before things get too expensive on there(although I am planning on ebaying my stuff in Nov rather than nowBlush)

I haven't bought much other than for my dc but I have ideas from alot of the parents of children I have to buy for so I know what to get when I have the money, whenever that isHmm

And i want to make some gifts so have ideas for those, whether or not I get round to actually making them is another matter entirelyGrin

BalloonSlayer · 19/10/2010 17:57

But my DCs change their minds a gazillion times. I can put a cut-off date at 1st Dec but not before, t'wouldn't be fair.

ScaryMoaningArrrggghhhs · 19/10/2010 17:59

Done all teh kid's gifts (4 of tehm so quite a bit) bar an itunes voucher

Made a good start on teh rest (not that there's much)

Done teh Christmas food order

I do it early ever since my naggingc aused Dh to get pretty much the last Wii coming into the country a few years back; just before the ban on importing them from Europe. We also buy some bits pre owned (DS1 needed a laptop for comp) so far better to buy those early.

We goa way 20th December; everything ahs to be distributed, ordered and wrapped well before that. Early is gooood.

lissieloucifer · 19/10/2010 18:34

for me its a cost thing too i buy loads in the sales so get done early then any spare cash goes toward food etc. i also like being able to relax over christmas, a hangover from restaurant managing pre-ds.

I have to admit to being more ahead of myself than normal this year, not sure why really.

Have also got organised and eBayed a pile of stuff so i have money in my Paypal account for the rest (well some of the rest more like) of the bits i want to get for the DC.

And to top it, i have wrapped (one kind of paper per DC of course!) all the bits i've bought so far. :)

lissieloucifer · 19/10/2010 18:49

ooh, now thats impressive! I looked at the wrapping paper today but fear dh will leave me if I start wrapping now Wink. although ive normally written my cards by now!

I like popping out to get the odd thing later on (& i'm not normally this sorted) but i actually hate having to do all my Christmas shopping at Christmastime!

I have been picking up DVDs when cheap in Tesco, etc. Things that might have come in handy if the DC had been ill or something earlier but can wait for Christmas now.

Not sure if DH knows i've wrapped yet, he's been away lots!

TubbyDuffs · 19/10/2010 19:18

When you've finished your shopping, can you come over to mine and sort me out please. I am really the worst last minute christmas shopper (bah humbug).
