Haven't tried either, but definitely would like one or the other for ds who will be almost 5.

What do you think?

Playmobil for that age.

The Lego ones look great but are better for slightly older children IMHO (and are much more££).

Agree with playmobil. Lego ones have been disappointing by comparison.

Dracschick · 18/10/2010 20:26

Hoping to get lego one for 4.9 yr old DS. Its got a lego skateboarder and mini ramp... and that is the thing he's been asking for months.

We had a playmobil one last year which my boys 5yo and 2yo at the time loved. You can also box it back up when Christmas is over and use it again.

Are they too young for a 36 3 yo?

Feenie · 19/10/2010 20:02

Hmm, am still undecided. You get to build the Lego ones every day though, don't you? Is it the same for Playmobile?

We have had both. The Lego City ones are quite good, but quite fiddly pieces for younger children. They are also a lot more expensive.

Playmobil, you have to put together yourself though, whereas Lego you just open the box, and open a door every day. The pieces are already in each compartment.

Ds had a Playmobil one last year (the Police one) and loved it (but Mummy he is a complete Playmobil addict). He has played with all the bits from it all year though. Sadly, he doesn't like any of the themes this year (has already had the police one and doesn't go for pirate or knights). Am hoping I might just be able to persuade him to have the Christmas in the Park one, although he's not over keen on cute animals.

So I would say overall, Playmobil is better for younger children, and less expensive, but do give yourself time to assemble it the day before you need it!

SoMuchToBats · 19/10/2010 20:12

The Playmobil you don't so much build, but you can play with the pieces as you collect them.

Thanks v much everyone. Will probably go for a Playmobil, I think.
