ds1 recently told me that he doesnt believe. he will be 12 in march. other 3 dc's aged 9, 5 and 4 definitely believe.

Hassled · 17/10/2010 18:56

DS3 is 8 and part of me wonders if he's just keeping the believing business going to keep me happy. The older DCs sussed it out much earlier, certainly by 7 or so.

PirateScaredyCat · 17/10/2010 18:58

did they, oh no at 7 ?!!

have your older ones kept up the game hassled?

i guess i am lucky cos dd is an only, but there's always kids at school to influence her.

i love being father xmas!

DS1 is 8 and told me last year (in the middle of HMV) that he didn't believe any more.

TBH I'm not that bothered about it, I'm certainly not going to try to persuade him otherwise once his mind is made up.

DS2 (who is 6) has told him that he won't get any presents if he doesn't believe though Grin

phipps · 17/10/2010 19:01

I still believed when I was 13 Grin.

Hassled · 17/10/2010 19:04

The older DCs have been really good about it - I've managed to put the fear of God in to them that if they tell DS3 I will be Seriously Not Happy. I think they like going along with it all.

mollymax · 17/10/2010 19:09

Ooh, I read this thread that you had 8 daughters!:o
I thought it is bad enough with 3 !
My eldest dd is nearly 12 ,she is still believing for the sake of her sisters 9 and 3

roundthebend4 · 18/10/2010 10:16

i think this is last year for dd age 7, ds1 and ds2 have been very good about not spoiling it

thankfully ds3 is only 5 and becuase of his sn will believe for good few more years yet which is sad but its not iykwim

tegan · 18/10/2010 10:20

dd1 is 12 and she doesn't believe but she is happier understanding christmas without having father christmas involved. She likes the idea of buying for people you love rather than a fat grey bearded man breaking in to leave presents.

roundthebend4 · 18/10/2010 10:21

ah see we done the othe rpeople buy the prsenst athst why you cant have everything you want .But theres always one special prsent wrapped differnt and special tag on from father xmas

exexpat · 18/10/2010 10:22

DD had definitely twigged by last year when she had just turned 7, and was asking searching questions the year before. Sorry! I think you are running out of time - though if they are really sneaky they do carry on pretending to believe so that the presents keep on coming.

PirateScaredyCat · 18/10/2010 10:53

nooooooooo!!

it's gone too bloody quick, by the time they get the anticipation and the magic, the bubble's going to burst.

i shall endeavour to keep lying stretching the truth Grin

my 10 yo still believes, but i am stealing myself for the fact that she goes to secondary next year and this will be her last year believing

sob!!

but I was the oldest , as is she, and its still fun going along with it for the younger childrens sakes. I know I can trust her not to ruin it for them! and she'll still get presents after all!

thisiswhataluv · 18/10/2010 13:30

my ds whos 8 in november informed me last week that santa doesnt exsist Sad
