Last year dd1 had far too much for x-mas and most hardly got played with, i havn't got a clue what to get her this year, the only thing she has asked for is 'hot wheels'. She's a tom boy, loves boys games (cars army etc), won't play with dolls or barbies. She has Go go hamsters which do get played with so could maybe add to them, she loves space (the moon and planets). I don't want to buy her anything too huge as we don't have the space, what can i buy her?

Go go hamsters have more boyish hamsters this year called Kung Zhu. I got my ds (6)
a hamster, a suit of armour and a vehicle of some sort when argos had their 3 for 2 on.

For his birthday his auntie bought him a remote control moon than goes up on the wall - out of the way - and comes with a cd that explains all about the moon and he controls it with the remote as it goes through the story. Don't know if that explains it well but he loves it anyway.

My dd is 9 and mad keen on space (and the Beatles!). For her birthday in June we got her the box set of Brian Cox's Wonders of the Solar System TV show, which she loves, and also a telescope.
Along with that we got her a few books and also the Heaven and Earth photo book, which, as a science buff she really enjoyed for all the pictures of cells and all the big ones of Space (it is a fab book, beautiful photography).
How about chemistry experiments set - would she like that?

She would love a telescope (great idea), she has also asked for the moon (moon in my room), i'm not sure about chemestry, the one thing i have got her is a book about space and the stars so a telescope would be great so she could look for the stars in her book.

Moon in my Room is cool, but look for reductions, I found it for £14 last year.

glowing stars are essential

Thanks ihear, we already have the glowing stars, we have just decorated her room with a space theme and she loves the glowing stars.

Natural History Musuem is selling very, very good microscopes for about £7 at the mo - here - I have bought a job lot for all DS(6, nearly 7)'s friends birthdays, gone down a storm so far

Great for inspecting bugs
