Last year, I bought small canvases (about 20cm square) and ds painted on them himself. We then gave them as Christmas presents to grandparents with a photo of him doing the painting - they were a big hit.

I need some ideas of something that he can do this year. We live abroad so it needs to be able to be posted and ideally something he can do/make himself.

Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Yellowmoon do crafty type key rings?

What about making Christmas tree decorations using hand/footprints?

Buy a cheap white photoframe with plenty of plain would and get him to decorate the edges with stars, glitter, paint, felt christmas stickers or whatever he can manage and put recent photo in.

We did this last when DS 1 was 3 and photographed him holding signs saying Happy Christmas Granny & Grandpa.

plenty of WOOD obviously!

Thanks for the ideas :)

Will have a look on the yellowmoon website. I did wonder about making decorations - was wondering if it would be possible for him to paint a bauble for the tree but I think that might be too difficult and the potential for it to break is a bit too high for my liking!

I just tried to find the yellowmoon website but I can't get it to work. Is it www.yellowmoon.org.uk ?

Not quite as handcrafted as the lovely ideas above, but those photo calendars that you can order online, uploading your own pictures, at Snapfish and others are really good.

zachsmama · 16/10/2010 15:26

Thanks Shirty - we have done one of those every year as well, so will continue to do that anyway :)

We have bought plain tea towels and let the dc decorate them with fabric pens -if you iron them to 'seal' in the paint, they will be washable.

each set of grandparents are getting a salt dough decoration for their tree which ds will decorate (hopefully) also making a photoframe like mary suggests for my grandad. loving the canvas thing, dont know if my parents or pil would actually display it though!
