I have different ones every year :o

Last year was the PITA to find but lovely, turquoise paper and silver ribbon

year before that was Red and gold

Year before that was brown paper

year before that was silver and blue

but what for this year?!

I only use brown paper and coloured ribbon - proper ribbon though not papery or plasticky ribbon.

I do use cheap paper for the santa presents - but usually one colour with spots or stars or stripes in white.

BunnyLebowski · 11/10/2010 21:21

Oh dear milk Grin

I go for the 'whichever roll's a quid in Asda' look. Just like Nigella.

scrappydappydoo · 11/10/2010 21:22

LOL I actually brought all my wrapping paper today Blush. Birthdays had an offer where you could buy 5 rolls for £3 so I brought 10 rolls Grin. I have gold and white stars for all family presents, red holographic for dd2 FC pressies and gold holographic for DD1 FC pressies...

What about purple? I don't know what the 'in' colour is this year

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 21:22

Orange and Lilac are always fetching neath a Nordic Fur.

JiggeryPopery · 11/10/2010 21:23

you have too much time on your hands Grin

What about shimmery white paper and red ribbon? Or a mixture of two colours of ribbon?

TheDailyWail · 11/10/2010 21:23

I could tell you what you need and it won't be a colour scheme! Grin

bigchris · 11/10/2010 21:23

This year I'm going for last years leftover winnie the pooh Xmas paper from boots

but seriously? Turquoise ? What's xmassy abiut turquoise ?!

BunnyLebowski · 11/10/2010 21:24

That should be 'whichever roll's a quid on xmas eve' btw.

I'm Shock at this being a predetermined thought out choice btw! Is that the norm?

Mind you I only buy for DP and DD so it doesn't really prey on my mind too much.

thisisyesterday · 11/10/2010 21:24

it doesn't matter!

i soon realised that my efforts to make a beautiful pile of presents under the tree were spoilt by the hideous paper my aunts are wont to use!
and the presents ytou send to other people never match what they have under the tree

so give up!

Alouiseg · 11/10/2010 21:25

This year is a combo of Emma Bridgewater Union Jack paper and crackers interspersed with black crepe paper.

Emma Bridgewater crackers too.

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 21:28

Is she? Why?

Meglet · 11/10/2010 21:29

Whatever isn't creased to buggery in the Xmas box in the loft.

QuickLookBusy · 11/10/2010 21:31

I spend ages agonising over bloody wrapping paper!!

I never see one that I 'love' and when I finally buy 10 rolls of something, the next time I'm shopping I see one I prefer!!

Then, when gifts start arriving they are always wrapped much nicer than mine. [writing this has made me realise I need to get a life.]

Like the suggestion of brown paper and ribbon
Madam, think you have saved me alot af angst this year! Grin

usualsuspect · 11/10/2010 21:32

Pound shop

mildsteeljoyce · 11/10/2010 21:34

Iron it Meglet, iron it.

My mum used to save all the wrapping paper, iron it and re-use it.

She was the queen of recycling.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 11/10/2010 21:35

I think green, black and white is very fetching.

Check this out for inspiration.

Meglet · 11/10/2010 21:36

mildsteel I do re-use wrapping paper, I just hack the edges off and use it for a small gift second time around Grin.

I've inherited my Yoskshire Grandads post war thrifty-ness.

GeekOfTheWeek · 11/10/2010 21:36

I really like the brown paper with coloured ribbon/bows/tags.

Last year I did silver and red but it didn't feel as christmassy iyswim.

I always use a bright patterned one with reindeer or santas on for the dcs.

My sis usually does bright pink or purple.

Checkmate · 11/10/2010 21:36

I did the Emma Bridgewater Robins paper last year, with co-ordinating ribbon from a haberdashers. Loved it that there was tissue as well as wrapping in the design. [[http://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Emma-Bridgewater-Robin-Printed-Tissue/52538011 here)

It was my favourite ever...
I need an idea for this year too, so will nick one of these suggestions

Checkmate · 11/10/2010 21:37

Sorry ballsed up my link as Ds2 having sneaky bfeed here

Francagoestohollywood · 11/10/2010 21:40

I'm not sure if I'm Shock or Envy of the OP. I never really much agonized over wrapping paper. What did I miss????

GeekOfTheWeek · 11/10/2010 21:43

Love this thread Milk, truly inspired Grin

My gran does dreadful paper every year, it is a longstanding joke as to how hideous she can find one!

Winners so far have been navy blue patterned with small pictures of old churches all over and black background with large poinsettas all over Shock

Francagoestohollywood · 11/10/2010 21:44

My mother is specialized in crap wrapping paper.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 11/10/2010 21:44

I'm not That crazy...promise :o

Turquoise may not be chrismassy but it looked friggin fab!

Chaos- that, my good friend, is PERFECT!!

galletti · 11/10/2010 21:46

black and cream with a touch of deep pink, and black ribbon. Bought a lovely gift bag in M & S for a birthday this w/e and it inspired me. God, you really would think I had nothing better to think about, wouldn't you - maybe it just takes my mind off all the real crap that's going on!
