ive written a huge list of activities to do for christmas with my ds. one of them is salt dough decorations. does anyone have a recipe and how do i go about actually making them, and when do i actually bake them got ds paints to decorate them with but im guessing they'll need varnishing?

where did you get the cutters from? I've been unsuccessful in finding any so far

Salt Dough:

2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Mix all together so it forms a dough. Cut into shapes & bake on 160C/Gas3/325F for 30 minutes & let cool down.

Paint & varnish

Someone might have a different method, that's out of an ancient book my mum had when I was a kid Smile

Would you mind sharing some of your activity ideas? I'm still writing my list of activities & only got about 20 so far

i got my cookie cutters from ebay. 12 for £4.50 inc delivery. some great ones available on there actually, for very little

here are some of my ideas... ds will be 2.4 but pretty adaptable for all ages

collect pine cones and decorate
print off pictures of xmassy things to colour
baking xmas cakes (mine will be choc crispies with edible stars/icing sugar as snow)
buying luggage tags as present tags and ds will decorate those
cotton wool snowmen
make a star for the top of the tree/or angel/or funny looking toddler creation
decorate picture frames for gifts
im going to try and write a little christmas book for him and put his name and his fave toys names in them as well
doing a big charity donation, lots of old toys/clothes etc to make room for new things
making snowflakes for the window

im the one with the cardboard tree idea so ds will be making decorations for that.

he'll also be doing his own christmas cards for grandparents

pretty standard stuff, mostly involve ds and pens/paint but if it keeps him entertained im all for it. i'll be 7 1/2 months pregnant in december so i think i need to keep it sensible and easy lol!

lol, thanks for sharing! I'm popping ideas in my dd's Advent Calendar along with some treats.

She'll be very nearly 4 & still very into paints/glitter/glueing so she'll love them.
