Finally decided to buy the kids one for christmas but not sure what I need / which console etc etc
I know there are packages you can get - but poeple have told me you need extra consoles / wheel etc
So - oldest is 5/6 so he would be playing on it mostly - what do I need in terms of the basics ? And any games suitable you could recommend ???
Thanks !

I would just get the basic package - ATM I think you get the console, remote/nunchuk, wii sports and wii sports resort. not sure if it comes with two remotes or not, they are about £35 and you get Wii Play with it.

you don't really need all the other random stuff like a wheel.

Ok thanks - will that do or should I get some specific games??

Hard to know without knowing your kids! But there are a few games based on popular shows - peppa pig, bob the builder etc. Other than that I prefer games which involve movement rather than sitting down - I love wii fit plus as it's great family fun but it may be a bit old for your kids. You should go to a store like Game and ask them :)

DS is almost 5 and he is obsessed with anything Mario

I would definitely get a remote for each child, it's better in multiplayer.
MarioKart is really good and anyone (apart from my MumHmm) can play it.
You don't need the accessory pack with the golf club etc attachments, it is often thrown in bundles but it is not necessary IMO.

I have bought my ds's a wii as a joint christmas present - it only comes with 1 remote.

I'm looking at getting another remote but am confused by remotes and nunchucks? What do I actually NEED to get?!

Mum1369 · 12/10/2010 16:45

Hi !! Thanks for all the tips ! Yes what is the difference between a remote and a nunchuck ?! Also are there different starter packs ? I saw one in sainsburys today for £229 which has all kinds of stuff and then another one which was black and limited edition ?! I don't want to get a console that will be out of date really quickly...so need to buy new. Any tips on a starter pack that has everything - ie Wii play / the tennis & sports games etc - with the accessories needed for them in it ???
Ta !

accessories litke the steering wheels, tennis raquets, golf clubs etc, can be found in Pounfland for (surprise, surprise) £1 each so if you want them they needn't set you back by much.
