My DD enjoys Junior Monopoly.

We've also had lots of fun with the Orchard Games, especially Shopping List and Bus Stop.

My DS's are the same age as yours and have lots of board games. Favourites are:

Piranha Panic
Don't Wake Dad
Shave the Sheep (Lego game)
Loopin Louie
Hungry Hippos (beware - very noisy)
Classics like Snakes and Ladders/ Ludo

The Cranium games are good too - we don;t have them but have played at other people's houses.

These are not technically all board games i.e they don't all use a board.

I'm thinking of getting them
Guess Who Extra
and
Labyrinth

for Christmas this year.

Ludo and snakes and ladders were popular with my DD when she was that age.
She also enjoyed/s twister, although it isn't necessarily a board game.

Thje cranium Hullabaloo - not a board game but played with shapes on the floor

amidaiwish · 11/10/2010 10:37

Guess Who
Twister
The tooth fairy game (favourite in this house)
Frustration
Orchard Games: Party party, tummy ache, shopping list games

(i have two girls, just turned 5 and 6.5)

Hungry Hippos is pretty popular with ds1&2 (nearly 7 and nearly 4). Plus card games like Happy Families, that was a real hit for a pound! Some really good ideas here, think I will buy some for Xmas.

pictureka! have DS 6 and DD 4 who love playing this, easy in concept not too many rules!

amidaiwish · 11/10/2010 16:02

funnily enough mine never really seem bothered with hungry hippo. maybe it is a boy thing?

Junior Scrabble and monopoly
Pictureka - they could play that all day

tassisssss · 12/10/2010 15:32

Not exactly board games, but do you have Uno? Also there's a fab version of dominoes called Double 12s (cheap on ebay), my 4 and 7 year old loved playing this in the summer with their grandparents.

Junior Manopoly & Junior Cluedo (who ate the chocolate cake)

Top trumps cards also go down very well!

We've done Hungry Hippos and unfortunately it "broke" got thrown in the bin eventually.. The noise is unreal!

We have:
DInosaur Dash
Snakes and Ladders
Ludo
Mousetrap
Guess who
Jenga
Dominos
Charades for Kids

Not strictly all board games of course, but of the "sitting down" take it in turns variety.

Also:
Marbles (unbelievable how excited they get about marbles!)

I've got some good ideas from other posters for my christmas list, so thanks for that!

Orchard Toys are great, have a browse of their site. they're good quality and educational too, bonus!

also love Uno/Whot, and Labyrinth is fantastic but may be a bit complicated for the younger ones.
