Too early to buy dd's Christmas present?

Despite prompting, dd aged 4 hasn't said what she wants for Christmas except for a skipping rope and "other big presents"! I was thinking of getting her a decent doll's house and have seen one in a shop nearby. The only thing is the owner of the shop says I would need to order it by the end of the month. Am worried if I do this, dd will turn round and say in December that she wants something else from Santa. Should I wait till closer to the time to see if she decides on something herself?

Why not offer to heklp her writw her list for the main things and then say once its gone to santa there are only little things to choose?

ie say what about a dolls house or a .....! then you can guide her in your direction!

I'm not sure she would go for a doll's house if she had the choice as she already has a small plastic one, but I think if she saw it in reality she would really enjoy playing with it. This morning she said she wanted moon dough after seeing ads for it on tv. Apparently it is rubbish though so really don't want to get it for her - play doh all over the floor is bad enough!
