Hi. I'm in need of ideas of something to get a 5 year old girl for Christmas. I'm mum to a 18mo boy so completely clueless to what to get!

I've got about £10/£15 to spend on her. She's the typical girly girl (dolls etc) but she's got tonnes of stuff and I'd rather get her something nice rather than plastic tat iyswim.

Disco glitter ball, they have them on Ebay for £14.99. (can't do links) You hang them from the ceiling. They have a little motor that lets them revolve and a seperate light with different coloured filters. My DD adores hers. I am getting one for my 7yo niece for Crimbo.

Thanks very much! I've just sent a link of one and of this to her mum to see which would be preferred. Smile

Quite taken with big strange plants actually..

i would say consumable craft stuff. my 5yr olds most played with item is her selotape dispenser i bought for £1, a pair of scissors, lots of paper to cut up (old cards are good also) and blank paper to stick things down onto. she also likes to make her own cards which she then 'posts' to us.

BTW she does have a disco ball which she uses very rarely but was popular when first bought.

Something to paint yourself - tea set, plant pot, piggy bank etc. DD loves these

I'd second consumable craft stuff e.g. blutak, googly eyes, pritt stick, stickers, envelopes and the like. Another idea would be the 'Chicken Socks' series by Klutz like this or a set of stackble cardboard suitcases rom Letterbox to store her stuff/craft things.

Make up your own Craft box for her with bits?

Thanks everyone. Just to update, her mum has told me that she loves gardening at the moment so am going with the strange plants thing.
Though will definately keep your other ideas in mind for the future! Smile
