Wow thanks.

My dd is 3yo and ds is 13mo. I just don't want to buy more plastic tat that just piles up then ends up in car boot sales.

I love the idea of wooden fruit and veg they can cut. I'm also keen on the micro scooter for dd.

Cheers

Lego

wooden train track.

comewhinewithme · 05/10/2010 11:46

Craft stuff.

Wooden building blocks.

Lego.

DS.

Happyland was a big big hit.

comewhinewithme · 05/10/2010 11:50

Baby Annabelle (3 of my girls have loved her poor thing looks really tatty now).

Megasketchers.

Things to avoid IMO.

Fiddly water beads /moon sand/magic coin maker.

Character toys you spend a fortune on a bloody iggle piggle that does nothing and it is sat in their room for a year unplayed with since the first 10 mins of Xmas day and then you give it away.

bobblehat · 05/10/2010 11:50

A shop till and pretend food, we've played shops for hours.

We also had a thing, I think it was called click clack track. It was wooden and had a series of slopes going down with little cars that went down it. That got played with for ages.

comewhinewithme · 05/10/2010 11:52

Ohhh my dc loved the click clack track too.

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 05/10/2010 11:57

Boy 2.11's favourites and which get played with all day long if allowed.

  • wooden train set and trains (Tesco's basic one)
  • play kitchen and food
  • toy aeroplane - just a small plastic aeroplane doesn't do anything
  • double decker bus toy at playgroup
  • marble run
  • scooter and bike
  • chuggington dye cast trains

Other toys he likes but not as much as the above

  • threading shapes
  • button board
  • books
  • puzzles

The dressing up. My dc are 8 and 6 and still love to dress up.

Duplo: They still play with it as they can make bigger buildings than lego and can use them for their playmobils, soldiers, mini knights and princesses etc.

Plates, tea sets, small pots and pans etc. Still playing with them (even ds who is 8, when he pretends to be a chef)

AngryPixie · 05/10/2010 13:19

Oh, yes ELC marble run has been played with a lot!
