You know if you do the new pj's for xmas eve thing?

& your fella doesn't do pj's at all?

Wwyd?

I bought myself and dd some last year but now there are 4 of us & it seems a bit odd not to buy him any when myself & our dd's will all be getting some. Even though it'll be a waste of time buying them, it seems a tad mean to me that we all get something nice & snuggly for xmas eve while he doesn't.

Any thoughts?

Can you buy him a new Robe?

Tippychoocks · 26/09/2010 19:02

Adults would be dressed in my house. Well me, I would be dressed Grin. The PJs thing is just for the smalls here.

lucysmam · 26/09/2010 19:23

Aha, new robe sounds like a good idea. Will start hunting round for one. Thanks Random

Tippy, I try to do everything fairly early on xmas eve so I can chill out in pj's, watch a film or 2 & wrap last minute pressies with my dp & a bottle of wine. I tend to put pj's on after tea if there's no one coming to visit anyway & potter round in them after that

i bought db a dressing gown last year as he doesnt do pj's. he loved it

Hulababy · 26/09/2010 21:31

We only do new PJs/nightie for DD.

I do wear PJs in an evening myself, as does DH - but not new ones for Christmas.

simpson · 26/09/2010 23:16

new robe a good idea or some trackie bottoms with a t shirt that he might use???

LadyCad · 26/09/2010 23:19

The Christmas pyjama thing needs to stop.

It's silly.

booyhoo · 26/09/2010 23:22

i did robe and slippers for EXP he had never had jammies on Xmas eve as a child and thought it was a great idea. he was really pleased with them.

chippy47 · 26/09/2010 23:23

He's a bloke. He does not care about new pjs at Christmas or any other time of year.

psychomum5 · 26/09/2010 23:29

we do new PJ's here, but only for the children.

DH never wears them, and he buys me mine as part of my xmas pressies anyway, so I don;t miss out, but its not counted in with the childrens IYGWIM.

simpson, you may be onto something . . . he could get some us out of a cheap pair of trackies & t-shirt through the footy season as well on the sidelines if he's not in the starting line-up.

It might be silly but, it's part of xmas that get my non-stop dd to sit still for 5 minutes with us all & I'm willing to do it for peace. Plus I chill in pj's when the kids are in bed so I'd get use out of them too

Have I missed something here? new jim jams just for christmas eve? My DD would never agree to that, she has to be threatened with not going or not being allowed to stay on her school trip before she will even look at a pair of pajamas or nighty.

RamblingRosa · 27/09/2010 12:00

I've never heard of new PJs for xmas. How can I have missed out on an excuse to buy new stuff?

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 27/09/2010 12:08

They're basically just a christmas present, but given on xmas eve so they can be worn the night and for unwrapping in the morning. They still get worn for the rest of the year(or however long they last) you know?

Some people, including me, just do it as a little tradition. FC brings ours while we go for a xmas eve walk in the afternoon. They appear on the hearth.

charleymouse · 27/09/2010 12:24

Ooh yes FC brings ours whilst the DCs are bathing, coupled with the sleigh bells ringing. FC is on his way out delivering and checking if they are getting ready for bed and being good. If they get there PJs on and get to bed nicely he will call back with pressies when they are asleep.

charleymouse · 27/09/2010 12:25

sorry did not answer OP, try some casual wear/robe for DH.

DanceInTheDark · 27/09/2010 12:28

Just for children here too. Partly so they have a "gift" and partly because they bloody need them lol!

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 12:28

What is the PJ's thing on xmas eve?

KnackeredOfLeeds · 27/09/2010 12:37

Ohhhh I really like that one.. I think it's a tradition I'll steal and start.. It sounds lovely.. My only worry is if I let them come downstairs to get their pj presents they will never go upstairs again. I may get FC to drop them on the ends of their beds.. My DP is same about PJ's another option is the shorts and T-shirt pj sets only £5 from Asda, but I prefer the robe idea..

lucysmam · 27/09/2010 12:49

lol charleymouse, I'm going to look for either a robe or some cheap trackies and a t-shirt for dp.

I like the idea that if they go "to bed nicely he will call back with pressies when they are asleep".

Never heard of this tradition. I quite like the sound of it though! So does everyone do this? How come I've never heard of it?

simpson · 27/09/2010 17:40

I put the Dcs new PJs (wrapped) on their beds while they are in the bath.

Then when they are in them we come downstairs and hang up the stockings etc...

YunoYurbubson · 27/09/2010 17:42

I buy dh some smart new boxers insead of pjs.

nappyaddict · 28/09/2010 11:17
