'Proper' bike or mini micro scooter for 3 1/2 yo who can ride a balance bike really well

We are looking to get dd3 either a 'proper' bike or a mini micro scooter for Christmas. She'll be 3yrs 5months.

She has the Rothan balance bike and is fantastic on it. She has great balance on it, gets up to some nippy speeds and can use the brakes really well, so I thought maybe she'll be ready for a 'proper' bike, however, I took her to Toys R Us and tried her on a pedal bike with stabilizers and she couldn't pedal it!

So, now I'm thinking maybe a scooter would be better instead? Or is it easier to pedal without the stabilizers (and on a lighter bike - the toys r us one weighed a ton!).

What do you think? Which do you think would be best?

It sounds like she's still enjoying her balance bike a lot so I'd go for a scooter and get a proper bike later on, maybe for her 4th birthday. My ds is nearly 3 and has only had his balance bike for a couple of months, but I'm hoping it will last until he is 4 at least as it is so fab (and expensive)! I'm thinking of getting him a mini micro for Christmasas he covets his big sister's - although I'm slightly worried it might replace the likeabike in his affections!

Hmm, yes, she loves her balance bike and goes everywhere on it. The price tag swings me in favour of the scooter too Wink

I hadn't thought about the scooter replacing the balance bike, eeek, I don't want that!

the islabike is nothing like the bikes in toysrus. my 3 yr old could ride a cnoc 14,(without stabilizers) having had a rothan, yet could never ride the ones in toysrus.its lighter, easier to pedal, totally fab.
