Predictions for "must have" xmas toys which will be hard to get hold of?

whatsthetimemrwolf · 23/09/2010 09:23

A bit early I know, but I'm starting my xmas shopping whilst Argos have their 3 for 2 offer. I'm, trying to pre-empt the go go pets fiasco of last year and be organised. I'm looking at getting some toy story bits and kung zhu ninja hamsters but wondered if any of you had any other ideas as to what will be the must have toys this year?

chugginton interactive railway.

An overpriced Buzz Lightyear that does naff all.
The pink teddy bear from Toy Story 3

There are some toy industry predictions here but those things tend to be just pushed by toy companies. The big craze that sells out is usually something unexpected that kids take to and the manufacturers haven't made enough of. So I don't know if anybody could really predict that yet.

Whatever the latest Lego is - they always run out really early.

I have no idea what it is though. Their website should tell you.

mummyofexitedprincesses · 23/09/2010 12:47

Zhu Zhu pets and their Fur Real copies- Furry Frenzies. I bet they will be impossible to get come November.

The little lego mini figures! I wanted some for party prizes...no joy whatsoever. If anyone knows where I might get them, please tell!!!

and that is for Saturday - not Xmas!!!

PennyDreadful · 23/09/2010 13:04

Why would you want to get something just because it's the most popular toy? Confused - what sort of things are your DCs into??

fedupwithdeployment · 23/09/2010 13:15

Lego!

netbook · 23/09/2010 13:25

Fedup there is a new set of figures out which is why everyone is sold out, WH smiths maybe? I got some last week in our independent news agents that sells lego

fedupwithdeployment · 23/09/2010 13:30

Tried WH Smiths....but they sold out.

Thanks for advice though. will keep looking, but not too stressed about it - it is raining and I'd rather be on MN in my lunch hour!

HarrogateMum · 23/09/2010 13:30

ShowOfHands · 23/09/2010 15:09

I reckon that monkey from Hawkin's Bazaar will be popular. Dave apparently.

The3Bears · 23/09/2010 16:11

Toy story bits definitley the ultimate potato head is supposed to go quick as they havent made enough stock ...

already got buzz and couple of other toy story bits Grin

inchhighprivateeye · 23/09/2010 19:48

The pink bear is still around, quite a few on Amazon. But elsewhere it's mostly the £39 one that's around - don't fancy paying that.

The new Lego Minifigures are in WH Smith, Tesco, Toys R Us. The Series 2 blue packets only came out about a week ago so should be plenty still out there.

jellybeans · 23/09/2010 19:53

Saw the pink bears in toys r us other day.

I would say Zingzillas for little ones and Lego for older ones, lego toy story/star wars/indiana jones/prince of persia etc.

twolittledarlings · 23/09/2010 22:37

Try Smyths for the pink teddy, the chadwell branch has them in stock. You can use the stock checker to check before you go.

simpson · 23/09/2010 22:43

I also think toy story toys will be a big hit. Argos are sold out of Buzz toys.

Luckily Ds (5) got one for his birthday in August.

Now he wants a Rex the dinosaur toy....
