Same as Dad thread really!
My mum loves reading but we have the same taste so feel a bit guilty buying her books I know I will borrow!
She loves gardening but has most things.
Any ideas???

Does she wear jewellery? I was maybe going to get my MIL (my own mam died when I was young) a nice chain as she pawned loads a couple of years ago to bail out my useless BIL & now wishes she hadn't

Or some nice smellies for the bath, just for her

Ooooooh, a spa day or manicure/pedicure package for a nice up-market salon (I'd like one of those!)

i'm wondering about a voucher for afternoon tea for two in a lovely hotel... she can take my dad or my sister ( i live hrs away...)

beauty vouchers have been a hit in the past - as has tickets for ashow

ja9 · 20/09/2010 21:51

would she like gardening vouchers?

PlumBumMum · 20/09/2010 21:55

CDM Grin at your book comment, my mum buys me a Ptricia Cornwell book every year, forgets to wrap it,
then says oh I'll read it firstHmm then I get it, last year she asked me could she lend it to my aunt, had to remind her I hadn't been given the book yet!!

cherrymonster · 21/09/2010 00:03

my mum is getting clockwork meerkats from hawkins bazaar (she loves meerkats), a slab of traditional toffee with the proper toffee hammer, a dvd and probably some other little bits and pieces

unfitmummy · 21/09/2010 09:21

this year i am doing a joint present with my brothers (has to be joint as we have a strict budget of £10 per person) - we are giving mum and dad a digital photo frame which we will have already loaded lots of photo on. will probably give them some of their favourites sweets from poundland so they have more to open!

moogalicious · 21/09/2010 13:24

tickets for a show? Got my folks a wine tasting voucher last year which they loved.

CDMforever · 21/09/2010 21:06

Some fab ideas here. Gardening vouchers in the lead at the mo tho I do want her to be able to open some bits. Love the idea of fudge. She loves vanilla fudge. Is it easy to make?
mumoverseas, I'm so sorry your mum's not around. I can't imagine how hard that must be especially at xmas.

Thanks CDM. I think homemade pressies are lovely, my mum would have loved stuff like that (had she not been diabetic!) Also, if you have kids, it is lovely if they can make something for their grandparents, maybe decorate a picture frame with a photo of them in?

upahill · 23/09/2010 12:09

I'm getting my mum an expensive handbag from Selfridges.

SuzieHomemaker · 23/09/2010 12:17

CDMforever is there anything in the gardening tool line which she would like but cant justify buying for herself - a really good quality pair of secateurs or some really good gardening gloves?

How about a clock for the garden?

spiritmum · 23/09/2010 12:23

I've already bought my mum some fab costume jewellery in the sales. And a scarf thing in um the sales. Will add a few bits later.

OP, what about something like this or this?

welshandproud · 23/09/2010 15:27

tickets to gardeners world show at the nec next year? this year ticket also allowed entry to the good food show next door.

Riven, chocolate fudge sounds delicious, is it a tricky recipe?

mizu · 24/09/2010 20:15

My mum is getting a calendar this year made using Snapfish and photos of my girls on every page. One of my friends has one that her DH made her last year and it is lovely.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 25/09/2010 15:21

A video camera for inside her bird house (links to TV) - so she can watch the chicks nesting and hatching in the spring ..... and a snow globe with a photo of her new grandson in it!

Jojay · 25/09/2010 17:19

Magazine subscriptions are always good if she likes reading
