I usually go for a supermarket Cava for about a fiver - fizz is a bit special and most people like it but even if they don't it is nice to take to another person's house for a re-gift Grin

Spend about a fiver a bottle (or what was a fiver before a mark down). You can't go wrong with dry white, or a light red. Don't buy medium white.

If I don't know someone well personally I wouldn't give wine tbh. Though I accept that people could just re-gift if they don't drink or if their religion doesn't allow alcohol. Grin.

I bought a tin of celebrations for the whole nursery staff to share in the staff room last year.

wine everytime ... £5 bottle of red

I get wine - something inoffensive like a new world viognier. I figure it can be regifted if necessary, and at Christmas the nursery is always groaning under the weight of biscuits and chocolates.
