Have we had this thread before? I'm not sure.
Anyway, we had this on Sunday (though we didn't sing it as well as thing) and I'd never heard it before. And it feels very apposite at the moment.

What a beautiful hymn! I'd not heard this before either but I think this might be my new favourite 😍

"Be still my soul, The Lord is on your side" to Finlandia.

Great is thy faithfulness is my current favourite hymn. We sing usually one hymn a week at church with the other songs being more modern.

We had "I heard the voice of Jesus say" in the service today, that's currently in my top few. I find picking a favourite very hard - DH does it by ones with good words and a good tenor line. His favourite is "My Song is Love Unknown" which is lovely.

Be thou my vision

especially the last part: 'whatever befall, still be thou my vision'

The tune for yours is a variation of ‘I heard the voice of Jesus say’

I don’t think it quite counts as a hymn but we used to sing “make me a channel of your peace” at primary school, and it was the hymn at a friend’s funeral recently - it helped a lot to frame their untimely passing that way. There is wisdom in the old hymns and Christian songs.

Not heard "Oh God of Earth and Altar" in years. It's used at the start of an Iron Maiden song of all places.
My personal favourite is "I the Lord of Sea and Sky"
