Children's ministry

Hi all.

As my name suggests I am a 'Godly Play Teacher', at least that's what the children refer to me as, which is rather sweet. I have only taken on this role in the last couple of months, so it's all very new to me.

Is anyone else involved in children's ministry at all? I wondered if anyone would be interested in idea sharing?

Hello!

I'm a children's minister and have been in paid ministry for a little over a decade now. In my currently job, I also serve as Chaplain to two primary schools.

Very happy to share ideas where I can

I lead the children’s ministry at our church. I have gone from a standing start, having never led before about 3 years ago, to regularly having 10-14 children and a team of 7 volunteers. It’s hard work but so valuable.

I am on the Open the Book team and I help at the monthly family friendly service. I will also help at 'Messy Church' next month. Our Youth and Families minister is brilliant.
I won't lie - all this has brought me way out of my comfort zone but it was a bit of a calling, and a way of giving something back. I am a traditionalist and hold on to tradition as a source of comfort and at one point in life I found 'change' very frightening'. By offering to help, I see it isn't so bad and something I can feel comfortable with.

Hi, nice to 'meet' you all.
Children's Ministry might have been the wrong terminology? We don't have a specific children's minister in our church. We do have a team of volunteers and a variety of children's groups. Godly Play, forest Church, children's praise and once a month we have a family service. We also a "time for God" volunteer who's only been with us since Sept, so still settling in.

Im enjoying my new role a lot. Today we taught the story of Gideon which I wasn't very familiar with so I'm learning too! We use Energise for resources, although they are usually aimed at much larger groups than my 6-8 children!

@HereintheloveofChristIstand I know what you mean about it being out of your comfort zone, I kind of felt the same but feel God was asking me to do this. And feedback from the parents is that the children love it.
