What's your go-to worship hymn or song?

I've been reading about David in the old testament for a few weeks, and alongside it reading some of his psalms. He was so good at writing his own worship songs to God.

Today I read 2 Samuel 21 where David and his army had great victories over their enemies, and then 2 Samuel 22 and psalm 18, where he worships God and writes his song to God.

It made me think about my go-to songs to help me worship God and lift my faith. I have two currently - I love Crown Him With Many Crowns for a song to make me really focus on God's glory, and then I Speak Jesus for when I am anxious and need to remember the power of Jesus to turn things around.

I'd love to hear from other people.

I love "Be still my soul, the Lord is on your side". I know it's traditionally a funeral hymn, but it speaks to me so much of giving it all over to the Lord in times of trouble. It certainly helps me.

And last night night I fell asleep with "How deep the Father's love for us" in my head.

I sing in the church worship band, and previous to that ive been a church choral singer forever, so I have lots of choice. Sometimes I think the Lord puts just the right song into my head when I need it!

Pretty much any song from the Getty stable, some from City Alight. Particular favourites:

Christus Victor (Amen)
In Christ Alone
The Lord is my Salvation
Victory in Jesus
Only a Holy God
His Glory and My Good

Be Still For the Presence of the Lord. I find it very calming.
Great is Thy Faithfulness. Reminds me of God's constant presence .

Some lovely songs here. It's amazing how a good song can really lift your spirits at the right time and really help you focus on God, isn't it?

And "I know that my redeemer liveth" from The Messiah.
Not a congregational hymn (!), but oh so beautiful.

My dad told me about this song and I have been listening to it recently. I find it calming. It is called Prayer to the Holy Spirit- Saint Augustine - Francesca LaRosa

I do have my playlist online for my faith on Youtube and like several others like Bread of Heaven by Fred Hammond and more.

"There is a Green Hill" by Phil Baggaley is a favourite one for Good Friday, and for Epiphany, "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen gives me goosebumps.

I LOVE that! My Gran used to sing it. Such a beautiful piece. Such assurance.

@Justmerach unfortunately I can't get that video to play.

There are many hymns and Christian worship songs that I love but I found this a few months ago and it is possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. A Georgian priest chants 'Our Father' in Aramaic which is the language of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Please have a listen. I hope you all love it like I do!

"There is a Green Hill" was my great-grandmother's favourite hymn. We sang it at her funeral, I was 10 yrs old and still can see myself singing it there. Don't hear it too often these days but it's a beautiful hymn.

At the moment I have a lot of the Slugs and Bugs songs in my head, as that’s the phase of life I’m in! However, I love that my children know so many Bible verses just because they know these songs!

Be thou my vision (whatever befall, still be thou my vision - that is strong for me)
Be still my soul
I am the bread of life
Be still
O God you search me and you know me
All for Jesus
