Healing Ministry

Hi everyone.
Tomorrow I am going to a service of healing and wholeness at a different church to my own. It will be my first time.
I have been hurt in the past so very badly in a church setting, and it has affected my wellbeing so badly. My faith is ever strong and I lean on Jesus every day of my life, but I can't get past it.
I know this isn't a magic quick fix, but I was willing to give it a go and try and engage with my faith in a different way, to face the hurt and try to heal from it, with God's help.
I wanted to ask, do any of you know anything about healing ministry, what it might involve etc? I really don't have any information other than that there will be time for private prayer and prayer stations. I understand it is a service rather than a faith based support group so I doubt I will have to share anything. I know that this service is very popular at this particular church, so wanted to give it a go.

Thanks all x

I go to a service once a month for just managing my conditions-so wholeness really. I get anointed with oil and get the laying on of hands. My mum has had a really good outcome doing this and I wrote about her case in the Who are you and what led you here thread. She had her healing for her issues with her joints. My dad went twice to for his joints and things improved as well.

Thank you for your reply. This sounds lovely. I have no idea what to expect and I guess it varies from church to church.

I would guess that it would be aimed at people who either want healing or who want to learn about developing their gift of healing depending on how it is advertised.
Either way most people will probably need a bit if both so there should be prayer and support for both.
Praying that it will be a wonderful experience and that you will really be blessed and feel really connected to God.

And i know it's not my job to do this but I am so sorry that you have been hurt by churches previously. Remember that we are all messy/flawed people, which is why churches are not perfect, but that God loves you and wants to know you.
(If there was anything abusive going on then I am absolutely not condoning that. Totally unacceptable.)

I have seen that it seems to be mainly Anglican church's that put on these wholeness and healing services. I know some church's to and others like Catholic if you ask the priest they can anoint the sick with holy oil. The elders in the Bible are asked to gather the sick and anoint them with holy oil. I am a non demontional, but attend the closet service near me and it works for me.

.....The elders in church were instructed to pray over and anoint those who were sick and unwell with oil and if they had sinned they would be forgiven (James 5-14-15).

I have been attending for over a year now and although I have had two healings of different types using the eucharist and holy water-for me it seems to be about being spiritually whole and managing my conditions with God. It is an ongoing story I think for me..but I cannot do without it.

My rector who does this has said that they have had good feedback about healing from those who have attended. If you wasn't healed you may come out more spiritually whole as it about wholeness as well.

My service is not for those looking to practice this ministry of healing.

Thank you so much @Geneticsbunny. No, no abuse, just hurt.

It was a lovely service. We started with some collective worship and prayers and then there was time for 'prayer stations', where you could write on a small card something you feel you need help with and then the priest would pray for and with you. I got very upset at that point, it just felt very overwhelming and it didn't help that my late grandfather's funeral hymn was being played on the piano in the background. She asked me if I would hold her hand, but that I didn't have to (I did), and we prayed together.
It was a very beautiful experience and I absolutely don't regret going.

I had healing and wholeness today after my service. As I mentioned I do this to really help manage my conditions.
I do like sometimes asking for a bottle of water to blessed after so it can made Holy. This can help some people have a seal on the work done if they need it. I just took a 500ml bottle today to be blessed. It has done great things for me before like this combination to my father used when he had healing and wholeness and blessed water after with it.

I designed some leaflets for my church for this-I did have to cut of where I go to church at the bottom.

I forgot to add above, a job of the Holy Spirit is a seal so they can top up there for the job to of healing to round it up.
