Can anyone recommend a church near Liverpool cathedral?

Or recommend me a good church searching website?

Ds1 is going to uni in September and we are looking for a church for him. Our church is quite old fashioned so he is looking for somewhere more lively and with a band rather than an organ. He is used to living next door to church and shuffling out of bed just before the service starts so as close as possible to cathedral campus would be good, less of a culture shock!

I don't know Liverpool that well, and, of course it depends on what expression of church would be best suited to him, but I found ...

When we were looking for a uni church for our DC we looked on the social media / website of the uni Christian Union. They had some suggestions and often in fresher's week they take newbies to some churches.

Does the uni campus have a chapel or a chaplaincy team? I remember visiting them at the freshers fair (not Liverpool) and I ended up going to the uni chapel and really loving it.

Good luck and every blessing to your son.

As PP said St. James in the City is definitely worth looking at, I think a lot of students go there and it is literally across the road from the Anglican cathedral.

The best website to look for Anglican churches in any part of England is A Church Near You.

Hope your ds finds his new church home.

Both churches mentioned on this thread are conservative. C3 Church Global is open about it and well done to them for being upfront about it. St James in the City is likely to be conservative on the interpretation of the Bible, on LGBT and on women in leadership. Their worship is probably brilliant but it being inclusive is important, then Google inclusive church and Liverpool and see what comes up. It is sad that Anglican conservative charismatic evangelical churches do not say where they stand on issues on LGBT and women in leadership.

Thank you. st James in the city has come up a few times in recommendations. Ds wasn't keen on the thought of a c of e church as his main experience of c of e is of going to the local c of e church with primary school. Although when I pointed out that in a normal service they wouldn't sing cauliflowers fluffy etc then he was a bit more enthusiastic! One of the few good things about covid was that lots of church services are on YouTube now so we are going to have a look there next.
