What does the RCIA involve?

I am thinking of joining this course in the near future and wonder what experiences people have? In terms of time frame and what’s involved? Also, what is the role of a sponsor and does the sponsor need to be from your parish and/or attend your sessions? Lastly, is there a specific ceremony at the end (like a baptism for an adult)?

Any info would be great!

It varies, depending on your parish. It is usually weekly and goes through what Catholics believe, what the sacraments are etc.
Yes, you, if not previously baptised, will be baptised, confirmed and receive first Holy Communion. This is most often done at Easter Vigil.
