I went to the afternoon devotions in the church in the next village over - Isaiah, Psalm 31, Hebrews, John. Prayers for all and everyone, display of the Cross, Communion with pre-consecrated hosts, collection for Christians in Israel and Gaza. Threaded through it, snuffing out 10 candles and 'sending their light' to different groups of people in need of light.
Good, despite the horrors of the Gospel reading - took about an hour.
I didn't go back for the Stations of the cross and Holy hour in the evening - that would have been another two hours.
Holy Thursday Mass, stripping the altar, and meditation took about an hour and a half.
This evening we'll bless and light the paschal candle, bless the water, celebrate Mass with the Gloria and an Alleluia for the first time since Shrove Tuesday.
Then on Sunday, at 5.30, the dawn Mass in the old graveyard.
And - less than 12 hours until alcohol and chocolate.
