Chronological Bible Reading Plan in One Year

LeaningOnTheEverlastingArms · 01/01/2025 16:04

This Is the time of year that people like to start a Bible reading plan.

Here’s an interesting one

Blue Letter Bible
Daily Bible Reading Program

Chronological Plan

“1-Year Plan. These readings are
compiled according to recent
historical research, taking into
account the order in which the
recorded events actually
occurred. This is a fantastic plan
to follow if you wish to add
historical context to your reading
of the Bible. If the schedule
provided is followed, the entire
Bible will be read in one calendar
year.”
(from the introduction to the plan)

That looks interesting. I've started the 30 day Shred on You Version today - the whole Bible in a month. You skim it and get an overview, rather than deep diving into a devotional. I might try the one you linked afterwards and play catch up. Never read it chronologically.

I like the idea of an overview- as well as deep diving.

I’ve never read it chronologically before either, so I’m going to do it this year.

Enjoy your Bible reading, @Fleecy 🙏🏻

I get these emails:

https://bible.alpha.org/en/

There are other ways (app, podcast, etc.) to also access them.

Loving all the ways to get these plans.
Thank you for sharing this 👍@IridescentShadow 🙏🏻

I'm not a Christian (I'm not an anything!) but I am interested in the idea of how people find comfort in religion and the historic context of Bible events (and those of other religious tracts). So thank you for sharing, OP, I shall enjoy reading a small chunk of the Bible each day.

I'll come back in a month and see how it's going!

I like this 5 day per week plan, the OT bits are long (and I often listen to them rather than read), but it keeps the OT in chronological order, which I find really helpful.

I bought the Bible in a Year as a physical book before Christmas with the intention of starting on 1st Jan. However, I was so excited to get it, I started early so I'm slightly ahead of myself! I find it easier to read paper rather than a screen, it goes into my head better. The book has space to write notes too which also seems to help with the concentration.

I had an audio version before but by mid February was sick of the sound of Nicky Gumbel's voice 😳

This is the one I bought www.eden.co.uk/bibles/new-international-version-bibles-niv/niv-journaling-bibles/niv-journalling-bible-in-one-year/

I've realised the version I just mentioned is not chronological but I've been so enjoying reading it I just wanted to tell everyone 😳😆

😁
That does look like a nice bible. I’ve been wanting to get into bible journaling and don’t currently have an NIV bible.

I’m listening to the bible in a year podcast by Fr. Mike Schmitz. I think it’s a chronological one. I tried it before but never made it to the end. I think, now I have a routine of listening to podcasts on my way to/from work, I’ll keep up with it this time. That’s my hope at least!

That made me smile! 😀. A chap called Brian reads the daily audio Bible and I listen as I’m trying to quieten my mind before going to sleep at night. I have now gotten used to his soothing tones.
