Can anyone got any ideas as to what may be causing such awful nappies for a week? He is 13mths and very well otherwise. I have not changed anything he eats and he only drinks water, formula or cows milk. What foods should i avoid or try to give?

my DD went through this it was horrible, after 5 days i took her up a and e, turned out she had a little case of gastroentreisis, just a tummy bug but it didnt faze her much, i was told to keep her off anything dairy as that would make it worse, was told about the BRAT diet, look it on the net, also we had to watch she didnt get dehydrated so gave her rehydration sachets that you can get i the chemist, and swapped her milk for drinks of them, it cleared up after about 8 days, poor thing, hope he gets better soonx

It probably is a bug but it takes a while for toddler guts to get back to normal again. Some people recommend the BRAT diet which is bananas, rice, apple sauce (cooked apple) and toast. Recommended for upset tummies.

My two have both had bouts of this as toddlers. Just when you think it isn't going to go away, you take them to the doctors (usually about a week) and you can be sure they are better the next day. Quite often the doctors have said that after a week, don't bother restricting anything they eat because it won't make much difference. I used to cut back on the milk and do the BRAT diet just so I felt like I was doing something but the most important thing is to make sure they keep drinking.

Hope he gets better soon.
