Any babies with really sore under chin/neck ?

DS is 6 months old. He is a really lovely chubby little thing but because of his rolls of chub, there seems to be a lot of "stuff" that gets caught in his neck. He doesn't lift his head right back very easily so its difficult to get to it to clean it/air it etc. but we're doing what we can. He now has a very red, sore looking neck.

Any ideas what we can do (apart from keeping it clean/dry as possible ?). Should we put anything on it ?

Sudocrem usually does the job. It happened to both my DSs. Normal, I think.

You've just reminded me that both my DSs had this. I used Bepanthen for it and it worked beautifully. Obvious really that a cream for damp warm areas would work there too - but it took a midwife at the Baby Cafe to tell me!

Sudocrem

DD used to suffer from this. I also used Bepanthen and it worked well.

Thanks. I've tried sudocrem but its not made much difference so far. Will try Bepanthen as well.

What also worked for us is to be meticulous about washing and drying the sore area.

We had this issue with DS3. The thing that seemed to work the best was washing and drying it carefully and using that liquid powder cream on it. You can buy it in Boots. It goes on like a cream, then dries to a fine powder, keeping it dry. Just a very small bit of this worked wonders.
