You can get Ovex from the chemist but you must treat the whole family not only your DS as you may all have them even if you are not showing any symptoms.

Weblink for NHS Direct and worms

You should be able to get something over the counter from a Pharmacist tonight if you visit one that is open late? A lot close at 8pm.

Make sure he washes hands after going to the loo etc very very well, so it's not spread to others.

Hi Roundthebend, My Dd has had them 3 times, what a nightmare for you, If you can't go out this evening to the chemist then ring your doctors in the morning, you can get free prescription to treat the whole family as its your Ds who has them atm. However ask the doc not to prescribe Prispen if you can as it is bloody awful raspberry flavoured granuals that you have to mix with water and if your Ds is anything like my kids smelt it and refused it outright, me and Dp took it but almost gagged! If you ask for the medicine form it is a banana (chalky) flavour and much easier for them to swallow! Hope your Ds is ok!

ovex the best medicine, its banana flavour rather than vile raspberry

You need to trim all the family's nails and wash all bedding and clothes your DS has worn or used. Also all towels in the house, plus bathroom mats, etc. If you have a bathroom floor that can be mopped, mop it. Same goes for bedroom floor. Buy and use a nailbrush (whole family) if you don't have one already. Make sure all undressing is done right beside a laundry basket and clothes are placed in it without any shaking around. No re-wearing of undies or trousers without a wash.

Sorry, meant to put that you wouldn't need an appt to get the prescription, if you ask the person on reception they should either put you through to triage nurse or doctor and they will just arrange for a prescription to be ready for whne you can get in!
